For one thing, you need to establish trust first. Most stores don't allow soliciiting, so make sure there's not a no soliciting sign on the window. Then if not, you can ask to speak to the owner, or manager and ask them politely if they have a website. If they do, ask if they are making good sales online. If the answer is no, ask if they would mind taking a look at what you're doing. Show them your wave3 business cards of Triple Clicks flyers.
Keep in touch and find out how they're doing, just keep building their confidence.

The best thing a friend ever did for me was to help me build my own safelist. Then once I built it up, I had over 1000 people to advertise to, while helping them to advertise their own programs. When you own the list, you can offer them a free ebook or something for taking the time to evaluate SFI. You can adopt a safelist here. http://mmaco.net
You can always use well known free safelists and build your own list of costumers and consumers. Try using classified ad sites where you can post a short text ad for free. Also try traffic exchange, where you exchange sites with other people who will view your site in exchange of you viewing theirs. Either way, it's a win win situation for everyone involved. Just Google the keywords at http://google.com or simply type them in your browser's address bar.

I tell them Rome wasn't built in a day and I remind them that SFI is not a get rich scheme and that those types of programs are usually scams invented to make someone else money.
SFI is a real business and has to be treated as one for a person to be successful. It won't happen overnight no matter what business you choose.
I also tell them the education they get here is well worth the money, and they're getting it for free. Once they get settled into doing the things they have to do in order to make money, the money will come. A little at first then as they go through the levels, more and more.
I don't softsoap it. It takes a lot of patience and steady effort to get there.

What methods do the top enrollers use to sponsor so many affiliates each day?

I think a lot of them have high volumns of buyers and sellers already, so they tap into their own warm market and use autoresponders, lead capture pages and other things to automate the process. Then send out an e-mail to their huge contact lists and get lots of signups. We are just starting out and have few contacts compared to them, but we can start now building them up by just treating others as we want to be treated and being a friend who is willing to help others.

Instead of giving them a fish, you must teach them to fish.
First of all, use their name in all correspondence. Make it personal and show them that you really care by giving them something they can do right now to get started.
Hello ~FIRSTNAME~,
Welcome to my SFI Team! I'm so happy that you're here.
My name is Becky and I'm your sponsor, so it's up to me to show you the ropes.
First things first, have you set up your affiliate profile yet? This is very important and will show others that you are a real person. You can write whatever you want to tell others about YOU. Make sure you upload a picture of yourself when you can, this also helps people to see that you're for real and not just some automated robot.
I will be watching from the sidelines as you grow and learn, and I'll be sending you an e-mail a few times per week, so make sure you add my e-mail to your contacts so it will come to you directly.
Until then, just click on your todo list located at http://sfimg.com and Contact me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
(Your name)

First of all, make sure it's a manual exchange and not an autosurf. And that there are a good amount of members who will see your ads. Also look for broken banners and urls that aren't working. This is an indication that the admin isn't doing his job or the members are just signing up and not sticking around.
Who wants to exchange ads with no one at all, right?
The next thing you can do is go right to the support link and send a support ticket and see how long and 'IF" you get a response, and if you do, are they professional and friendly? Or do they write in broken English and try to sell you something right off the bat? Do they seem knowledgeable?
Now on to the ads themselves. How many ads are you allowed to send as a free member? Are the higher levels of membership worth the amount of money?
Are they giving away too many freebies? As in giving away 5000000 credits or other such foolishness? If so the program will not be sustainable because they give it all away and devalue the program.
Read the terms, faq, and privacy pages. Are they simple to read and understand? Do you agree with everything?
All these things need to be considered and there are probably a lot more. But to save time, these will help you not to make the same mistakes as I've made.

Will moving up my personal rank in SFI help to gain more trust from my downline members and help fuel further growth?

Absolutely! You have to "practice what you preach" in order to build trust and show that you're a team player by showing them where the money is. Anything less is hypocritical.
When communicating with my downline, is it best to use the SFI email utility or my own email? What is the most effective?

The SFI utility sends to their e-mail under "corporate" on your behalf, so either way is good. You should also have their e-mail so if you send to their e-mail directly, make sure you're not hitting their spam tools by using the wrong keywords and always try to whitelist their email as well in case they email you back keep THEIR email from hitting YOUR spam tools. There are tools you can use that will help you to not use the words that cause emails to be caught by spam busters, so do your own due diligence to find them.
Here is a good blog on this subject.

What are your recommendations to improve the WAVE3 Program?

First of all, I agree that some people don't have cars, but you can use a relative's car. I see pictures all the time of people using the same car. However, SFI's wave program is phenomenal, be there's always room for improvement. Secondly, I think it would be great if they provided printed business cards with our name and whatever other information we want, such as our phone number so potential clients could call us and we wouldn't have to enter the information in ourselves which makes it look so unprofessional.
The price of wave3 is great, and it's true a lot of people can't afford it at any price, but if there was a lot more value added, it would be feasable to make it a little more costly. I would think that with all the wave3 members and the millions of new people joining, keeping wave 3 low cost while adding more value shouldn't be much of a problem.

Lead with a question. Don't try to explain it or tell them a lot of things about it. Just ask them this.
Are you doing any business or buying things online?
If they say yes, ask them what. Keep asking questions and let them provide the answers.
Then when the moment is right, ask them if you can give them something to look over. If they say yes, and they often will, just hand them your card and smile and say, please look this over and call me if you have any questions.
Give them your phone number and move on.
