Neither my sponsor or co-sponsor or any of my upline have ever run a contest or provided any prizes to motivate me. I don't think they ever look at their Movers tab either because I've never had so much as an email saying 'congratulations'. From my experience, this situation is very discouraging. I am sure that if a contest was run and prizes offered, I would throw myself into trying to compete and win a prize, because I am a competitive sort of person. Everyone, however likes to be appreciated and encouraged.
In the absence of competitions from my uplines, however, I do find things within the SFI website that appeal to my competitive nature. I check where I am on the Leaderboard, and am pleased that I am 2 in my E365 competition. I hope somehow to become 1. I also make sure that I enter the Daily Grand in the hope of winning something.
I am trying to be a better sponsor to my team, than my sponsors are to me, but I don't have the money to offer prizes. I have given a free e-book to my team who became EA and also reassigned PSAs. I have not found these successful however, as most of the people to whom I reassigned PSAs didn't go on and continue to become EA2. I haven't heard whether any of them ever read the e-book and only a couple actually emailed to say thanks.
In light of these experiences, I think people who want to achieve will motivate themselves with or without the carrot of competitions and prizes, nice as they might be. Those who aren't really interested drop out anyway, even when they get a prize.
