Residual Income is addressed in several parts of the SFI training modules: in SFI Basics, in the Compensation Plan, in Solutions, and in Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), including explanations of the executive pool, just to point to few of the places where to find relevant, official information.

Building residual income is engaging in activity that will produce for us revenues, in the future, repeatedly regardless of whether we continue to do that activity or not.

One of the best examples of such activity is the sponsoring of E-Commerce Associates (ECAs). When our referred ECAs becomes active and sells through TripleClicks, we earn a 10% commission on their sales. As long as they continue to be a member and to sell, this income will continue to flow to us, "month after month, year after year", on the basis of one single action in the past.

The similarity, made in the official definition quoted above, is a good illustration on how residual income woks. It was published last year that one of the greatest earners among recording artists was Micheal Jackson, years after his passing away, as a result of his work that continues to sell.

For us, SFI affiliates, the secrets of building residual income is in sponsoring affiliates, training them and teaching them duplication, helping them build their own team.

Indeed, sponsoring is the second type, and most lucrative activity that will produce residual income for us. When we sponsor an active affiliate, we earn direct commissions from their activity for as long as they are with SFI. We also earn matching points that will be part of our shares of the executive pool, as long as we maintain a team leader rank and the affiliate maintains an EA2 status. In addition, team leaders, from Bronze Team Leader (BTL) to Diamond Team Leader (DTL), earn additional executive pool matching points on their second generation PSAs (up to 6th generation for BTLs, and up to 12th generation for DTLs) with the doubling of the matching points on the 12th generation

This is a very important component of our compensation. It is what makes team building so lucrative. It is an important part of the residual income.

Below are illustrations on matching VP:

The example mentioned in "Solutions" is that of a Silver Team Leader (STL) : "...You are an STL. The EA2s in your first 8 levels account for a total of 57,500 VP this month, so YOU earn a matching 57,500 shares of the TripleClicks Executive Pool"

Platinum Team Leaders (PTLs) earn matching VP up to 10 generations in their downline.

It is also interesting and highly motivating to keep in mind the matching VP earned by Diamond Team Leaders: "DTLs receive matching VP on all EA2s in their downline within 12 levels (including their CSAs), plus double matching VP on affiliates on the 12th level."

"To earn matching VP, we must hold the rank of Team Leader, maintain our SFI Leader Page, and also maintain a minimum 3-star Sponsor Rating (not applicable w/less than 5 ratings)."

Thus, we can summarize: residual income is built by (1) referring ECAs, (ii) sponsoring a strong, large team of EA2, and (iii) providing an effective support to our CSAs. These are the three major building blocks and pillars for a strong, growing residual income.

Building a strong residual income is maximized to the highest when we reach the level of DTL and build a team to the 12th generation. The more EA2 we have in our downline, the more residual income we earn even after we slowdown our SFI building efforts and go into semi-retirement,. as long as we keep the status of team leader.

It is actually interesting to note that the requirement for the rank of DTL is just to have a standing order of 1500 VP or more and 5 first generation Platinum Team Leaders (PTLs). After we have built a strong team for years, it is likely that we will have many other DTLs as first generation affiliates. This will solidify our position as DTL ourselves and strengthen our ability to continue earning residual income.

This is the objective to work for.

This is a very complex question.

It has already been answered by SFI Corporate at least indirectly in the Q&A, pointing to the practical aspects of such an undertaking.

On the one hand, you are trying to remove the language barriers to business development and help Affiliates as well as prospects fully seize the opportunity of the SFI Business model. On the other hand there are major practical problems that will need to be resolved.

A clear analysis of cost/benefits and return on investments would conclude that it is neither beneficial not practical to engage in such a project. The reasons of such a conclusion are below.

The major obstacle is cost and returns. Will the business generated with these foreign language sites cover the cost of implememting them, maintaining them and running them in manner comparable to this www.sfimg.com site?

There are three major practical questions.

1. Which entities or entity will undertake this idea?
Affiliates are already promoting and marketing SFI in the languages of the countries they are targeting. Some of these Affiliates may even have their own websites and conduct some form of web seminars (or webinars). To go beyond that implies that SFI Corporate would be involved one way or the other. This brings the second question:

There are approximately 6,500 languages spoken today in the world. The language that has the most speakers is Mandarin Chinese with over 1 billion 213 million. However, China is far below on the list of SFI most active countries. Thus Mandarin Chinese would not appear to be the first choice and by far. The fifteen most active countries are India, USA, Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, South Africa, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, Kenya, United Kingdom, Serbia, Romania, and United Arab Emirates. With the exception of Philippines, Serbia and Romania, English is either the official language or a language widely spoken in these countries. Thus, websites in Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Urdu, or Arabic would bring marginal business to cover the cost of such websites.

3. This will appear more clearly when we ask: to what degree of details this foreign language websites would mirror this www.sfimg.com site. When we look at the wealth and details of the information made available here, the constant additions and updates in technology and content, it clear that other sites would not keep up. A website and/or a blog are among the advanced marketing methods SFI recommends for sponsoring and building our teams with active affiliates. Thus, we need to give them a great deal of attention and perfect our strategies.

However, getting traffic to your website is not an easy task by itself. The internet is now replete with non organic traffic. It is not genuine. Just recently, I came across software developers who set up an advertising mechanism that logs into safelists and text exchanges to read ads, collect credits and allows its users to post their own ads without ever logging in themselves. Such software is generating web traffic and placing ads without human intervention. Similarly, many of the online traffic providers generate bots to mimic real human activity, mislead marketers to believe they will have real traffic. Various techniques are used to generate this kind of artificial traffic, such as infecting consumers’ personal computers with software that loads Web pages without the owner's knowledge, or installing similar software on cloud computing services

Such non organic traffic is unlikely to convert into sign-ups. If your website is feeding from it, your chance for converting into sign-ups is nil, regardless of what you do. It is not made up of real human visitors.

To convert your traffic into sign-ups you need, first, to attract real business opportunity seekers, prospects looking for reputable business to join. Second, it is imperative that you interact with your visitors, follow up on them, answer their questions. It is a long list to note all the tools available today to generate web traffic to a business promotional site.

There are specialised professional services available to that effect. Some of them may promise extremely large numbers. However the quality of that traffic maybe questionable, because of its low conversion rate.

That is why I personally prefer to do it on my own, especially because of the need to ensure the quality of that traffic.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is among the first methods and still one of the most efficient ways to generate traffic.

SFI has made it straightforward and very practical to welcome a new PSA.

Within the first two days, we get at least, a Notification of a New PSA and the New PSA Recap that provides us whit an accurate count of all new sign-ups in the last 24 hours. That Recap allows us to catch up if we missed the first notification.

Thus, we are fortunate to have several ways for welcoming new additions to our team: the SFI IM, the welcome e-Cards and the welcome letter.

Depending on the circumstances, I personally use at least 2 at the same time: my preferred is the e-Card. It addresses both our visual faculties and the ability to communicate in words.

This is the process that works the best for me.

In most instances, I am online working on my SFI business. As soon as I see the New PSA Notification, I make the first attempt to contact. Very likely, there is a high probability to find the new affiliate still online at the SFI site. Then, it is only appropriate to contact them through the SFI IM.

There is no better opportunity to get to know the affiliate, in this live, person to person, first contact.

I send them a chat request, to welcome them, make them feel important, help them understand that they are part of a great, striving business community, help them see how outstanding the SFI opportunity is and give them a chance to express themselves, or ask questions.

After answering their inquiries, I make them expect a more detailed follow-up message.

I take that follow-up message very seriously as it is also critical. I re-emphasize the “Welcome” feeling I want to give to my affiliate; I make it highly motivating and informative about the SFI business opportunity. Most of all, I start establishing a friendly working business relationship between with new PSA.

Often, I use an E-Card to follow up. This is because the E-Card conveys multiple signals. It is a visual communication tool, as well as written text with which I provide clear and beneficial information.

This sets the stage of the quality of communication with my affiliate.

If we choose the more traditional text message, the first New PSA Notification contains all directions and the links we need to welcome our affiliate. One these links takes us to Affiliate Snapshot. It contains detailed information on our new team member as well as clear directions and tools to contact him and welcome him. One of those tools is an excellent sample welcome letter. We have the choice to send it as is or to edit it. If I choose to edit it, I usually take inspiration from the information contained in the new affiliate profile to give to the welcome letter a personalized content and feel.

If we take inspiration from this sample letter, we will not risk having our welcome message being stale, tasteless or insipid. I do not think that there is an overwhelming need to re-invent the wheel here. I find this sample “Welcome Letter” very much adequate for the job. Again we can edit it and add reference to information in the PSA’s profile to give it a greater personal touch.

If one chooses to draft a whole new welcome letter, it is not evident that they will do a much better job.

You may know that there are 203 countries represented within SFI. Some countries have much more affiliates than others. This is due to demographics, economics and entrepreneurial spirit: the desire and resolve to be in business for oneself.

Basically each country is a good advertising target. But we have to be selective indeed.
That need of selection bring us to choose which countries are likely to yield for us

(1) the greatest response, and
(2) the highest ratio of active affiliates.

Those are the two criteria to keep in mind.

Hence we can put together a 3-tier ountry advertising strategy:
(i) Countries chosen according to the language we speak. Communicating effectively is important when we conduct our own advertising strategies. We need to use words we understand well so as to have a well planned and executed campaign

(ii) The most actives SFI countries from which stems SFI affiliate growth.

It is interesting to note that, if all the former Yugoslavia countries were put together as one entity and source of SFI affiliate growth, it would rank at the very top, as Serbia is already at # 7 and there are three more among the first twenty, Bosnia, Croatia and Macedonia.

Thus, for you Gorkic, it would be an excellent idea to focus on the former Yugoslavia countries first, as you are from there and you may know the market and customs very well.

(iii) The industrialized countries. North America (USA and Canada), UK and Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The important factor these countries hold stems from the fact that Affiliates tend to be relatively active at a higher ratio and there are less constraints in having mechanisms and payments instruments to fund their SFI business.

Thus, a balance country advertising strategy should combines the above three criteria. If you have a limited monthly budget, you may want to alternate from one group to the other. According to your tracking results, you tweak your tactics for better results.

We all can personally relate to your question, as it is our main goal and concern.
When we think about “boosting (or maximizing) our income”, we need to be very realistic.

Yes, it is very much possible to build a substantial income with SFI. Many affiliates have done that. Others are in the process of doing it. We also can and will do it.
However, to save ourselves from disappointments and setbacks, in addition to hard work, realism, patience and perseverance, we need a balanced approach and a focus on using leverage.

I. Hard Work, Realism, Patience and Perseverance
It has been said and repeated again and again that SFI is not a “Get-rich-Quick” opportunity.
In fact those do not exist. Anything presented as such is unrealistic and doomed to failure.
Those SFI affiliates, who have achieved a significant level of income, have been at work on it for the past seven, eight, ten years or more. There are still affiliates who were among the first to join in the late 1990s, who are still with us, promoting and sponsoring the same way we do. Some of them may even be giving us their own opinions through your question.
Similarly, we who have joined just a year or few months ago, will have to put efforts and work commensurate with our goals and ambitions.
The results will not be overnight.
