If you want to set up local meetings and seminars to recruit PSAs and/or PRMs, the initial process is the same: you set up local advertising and plan meetings at a local venue. The specific depends entirely on your audience, however.

* If you're looking to show people how to build a retirement income, meet near a senior center.
* If you're looking to recruit stay-at-home parents, leave fliers and cards at grocery stores, and offer to meet at their convenience.
* If you're looking to build ECAs, you can recruit at local flea markets and trade centers, and offer to meet at a nearby restaurant.
* For PRMs, you can set up a table at a local flea market and use it as a platform from which to sign people up and sell products over TripleClicks.

Your sponsor every month is going to be based on how well you feel your sponsor is meeting your needs. As such, it is, BY NATURE, subjective. Here's what I consider:

0) Score a "benefit of the doubt" point for your sponsor. He or she is only human.

1) Stream posts: Do your sponsor or cosponsor use them to do more than just give token, inspirational quotes? If so, score one point.

2) Leadership page: Does your sponsor or cosponsor use his or her leadership page, blog, or similar point to give you more information? If so, score one point.

3) Weekly contact: Does your sponsor or cosponsor use PSA/CSA Mailers or Geneology mailings to make general contact with his or her entire team, sharing general tips and tricks? If so, score one more point.

4) Personal contact: Does your sponsor or cosponsor contact YOU, individually, via e-mail or team mail, and carry on a conversation if you respond? Does he or she respond to YOUR messages? Do you feel like you're getting enough training? If so, score one more point.

5) Incentives: Does your sponsor make any attempt to inspire you to challenge your efforts through incentives, rewards, and contests? If so, score one more point.

6) Total your points--if you've got an Awesome Sponsor, he or she may score more than the maximum of five.

Nobody expects a sponsor to work miracles or give hand-outs, but advice and encouragement are free, and they are the stock-in-trade for a good sponsor.

Advertising, at its heart, is an attempt to get new interest in a product, service, or idea. People who already have that interest thus become your first target. For them, it's as simple as catching their attention: "Are you interested in selling your stuff around the world? Come check out TripleClicks!" and link them in. I always find talking to people individually works out even better, though, because I can build rapport through chat, which is something that is much harder through an ad.

The other group that you can be successful at getting through advertising are people who essentially don't yet know that they have that interest because if there's NO interest there, at most, you'll get another "inactive," "tire-kicker," or "lookie-loo" (or whatever your sponsor calls them). To get this person's interest, then, building rapport is essential. Talk about things you have in common with that person and then tie in your subject. For example, as someone who likes doing a little blogging, I might suggest to a fellow blogger, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a wider audience? I was reading these articles on the SFI website, and they had some really good ideas that applied. If you sign up with me, I can show you how to not only build your website traffic up, but also how to make money applying this elsewhere online." Of course, this is an abbreviated version of the conversation, but do you understand what I did there? I tied his interest in blogging to a potential interest in SFI.

The biggest trick that can make social media work is being *social*. Blasting a message at your friends is essentially *anti*-social. Approach them, open interest, and then close the sale.

Webinars are great tools when you have something valuable and useful to say. Plan these out first, and, where possible, work with someone who does copy editing because he or she will be able to take out elements that bore listeners or help you expand parts that are not fully explained. A webinar has to be put together cleanly, preferably with outlines and transitions that keep the people on the other end listening and interested. That's why so many of those loud presentations totally fail, and why so many of the long, quiet ones have their people drop off before the end.

When it comes to training your downline, there are two separate segments: specific items of importance (skills, business details, legal information), and items related to the motivation of your affiliates. The former are most suitable for webinars. The latter items are not because they are more personalized, and chances are, your affiliates are going to want to keep their personal stuff *personal*. For this, you are better talking with them directly because training and motivation of this type go hand-in-hand.

Now, this may seem obvious to you, but I have met people who have made the following mistake: They used the same webinars and presentations for both their marketing efforts and their training efforts, despite the fact that these two audiences can be significantly different. Keeping that fact in mind will result in better training for both groups, and is worth any extra work on your part.

Maintaining traction and boosting momentum in your group is really the same here on the Internet as it is in Real Life. People need to feel like they belong and that they are getting something out of anything in which they are participating. There are three main actions you can take to assure this:

1) Elicit information: Know how they're doing, what they're doing, what they're interested in doing, and keep the lines of communication open. If they close, you will lose that momentum.

2) With those lines of communication open, the next step is to have group activities. These can be SFI-related, like training and/or contests, or they can be off-site, like participating in teleconferences over Skype or even playing any number of internet games together. The stronger your connections with your team, the more you can assure their connection with SFI.

3) Offer incentives. In my case, because I do editing and graphic design, I can put my services at their disposal, I can proofread and check their listings, and I can design art and copy based upon their interests, within SFI and TripleClicks or aside from it. I've even made business cards for my affiliates as they progress. This costs me nothing but a little time, and it makes sure they know that they are worth my time. If you're good with crafts, you can make things for them, either for their use or to give them something to sell on TripleClicks. You can offer them Gift Certificates or TCredits, and those will also encourage them. Only you know what you're capable of giving.

The most important thing you can do is KEEP IN CONTACT. If you fail to do that, chances are you will lose them... and even if they stay with SFI, they're not likely to rate you highly.

Pay per click advertising is a horrible way to get visitors when you need traffic for your website/blog because it costs you money right out the gate and gives you (generally speaking) the same attrition rate as free ads.

How it works:

Pay-Per-Click ads are those sponsored links that show up when you perform a web search in Google, Yahoo and other search engines. You budget a certain amount for the ads, select the frequency of appearance based on keywords and other analytics. Once your ad is live, people who click on your ad go to your blog or your gateway link, and boom, your account gets debited for the cost of your ad.

Now, obviously, not everyone who clicks is going to sign up, which means that some of your money is lost to no effect. Additionally, those who do, well, we know that we're facing roughly a 97% attrition rate (at least according to one of my upline sponsors). This can mean that you have a sizeable investment long before you have an active team of any size.

Now, if you're going to use, PPC ads, you want to track not only clicks, but conversions (so you can get an idea of how many people are actually following through and sign up). You'll also want to track how many of the sign-ups actually prove active.

You see, your outgo (how much your paying the PPC service is)

(Cost per clicks) x (total numberr of clicks)

but the money you get back is

(total number of clicks) x (conversion rate) x (profit from commissions from your conversions).

You're far better off using free sources for opportunity seekers, particularly ones which allow you to meet people in person. You stand a far easier time showing people your successes face-to-face, and you wind up doing it at far less expense. One of the best things about SFI is the fact that we can all do this without spending even a time of our own money--don't waste your hard-earend cash on this.

So, dividing out by the total number of clicks, in order to make a profit, your cost per click needs to be less than the product of your conversion rate and your profits from commissions. Or, in math terms:

if (Coversion Rate) x (profit from sign-ups) < (Cost per click), YOU LOSE.

I could go into the hit-or-miss guessing game to figure out which keywords are going to be good choices not shared by others, but the fact is that not only are you in direct competition with everyone from SFI using these, but with members of every other affiliate program out there--and there are *tons* of them.

For me, my favorite products are definitely some of the food products, particularly PURJAVA and the Supreme Whey Protein. Not only do they taste good, they have helped me keep to my diet. There are a few ways to test to see if your affiliates are receiving your messages; none are absolutely 100% as to assuring this.

1) Team-mails always make it to the affiliate's account, but if they don't log in, they don't get your messages. You can check their log-in dates, but logging in doesn't guarantee them actually *reading* those messages.

2) You can request a return-receipt on regular e-mails, but some domains don't acknowledge those requests, and an affiliate can usually choose *not* to send one if they so desire.

3) Similarly, some e-mail clients will allow you to tract a delivery status notification, but again, many domains choose not to send those.

4) You can send an "incentive message," offering free T-Credits or a gift certificate if they respond. This has the added bonus of encouraging a little bit of activity on their part, and if they do not answer, either (a) they are not receiving your messages or (b) they have lost interest and you can consider them effectively inactive.

The most important thing to do is to concentrate on those that do show some desire. Apathy and attrition are all over the internet, and it's important not to let either affect you.

When you distribute TC gift cards to friends and family by e-mail, it will help to tell the truth about the gift cards from your perspective. For example, you might consider telling them what they will be able to do with the TCredits they get and then encourage them to explore.

A lot of that will also depend on what sorts of people your friends and family are. For example, someone who is a musician will want to use it for Artist of the Month and to sell their music online; on the other hand, someone who does arts and crafts may want to use it as a springboard for selling their products. Those who like the way the penny auctions work will want to look toward PriceBenders, too.

Again, you know your friends and family best. In my case, I don't have much family left, but I have friends who are curious about the various "experiments," business or otherwise, that I do. I'm eager to see what I can do with SFI and TripleClicks, and I'm still learning more and more--that's why I find this place so exciting!
