The best way to find a mentor is start with your sponsor and/or co-sponsor. If you don't get any response from them, work your way up your upline until you get someone to respond. If you still don't get any response, don't despair. You still have a2a friends and the forum. Personally, I use both of these daily to learn from. There are some incredible team leaders on the forum that are more than willing to help train and share their knowledge, even if it does not directly benefit them. They do it for the good of SFI.
My first months here, I didn't have a mentor other than the forum and I didn't really know where to start there. I just read and read and read and taught myself what I needed to know to get started. AskSC questions and answers, the forum, LaunchPad, Internet Income, Rules of Success, Ask Gery, Expert Reports, etc. Everything you need to learn to become successful at SFI is free and at your fingertips. The more you research and learn, the better sponsor and mentor you will be for your own team. So, truthfully you don't really NEED a mentor, you can become your own.

What do you tell prospects who say they aren't interested in SFI because they don't know very many people?
If the reason your prospect is telling you no is because they don't feel they know enough people, there are ways to help them.
Help them brainstorm the people they do know (their warm market):
*postman
*people at church
*neighbors
*parents of their kids friends
*relatives of their friends
*cashier at supermarket
*repairmen
*FaceBook friends
*etc
If they still come up empty, tell them about ways to advertise for free both online and offline. Tell them about how you will teach them to place ads. Tell them about how helpful the forum is to brainstorm new ideas. And how they can purchase the S-builder and other ways of getting PSA's including reassignments.
