Your question is a very complex one.
But the answer is very straightforward: Upholding SFI Ethics and Rules of communication between affiliates.
Let us explain this further.
I. The problem

1. The complexity of the question stems from the facts that (i) we are humans and as such we have weaknesses that often make us ignore ethics and rules; (2) most of us are home based entrepreneurs and internet marketers who are running more than one business. Hence, we have this unshakable tendency to see potential prospects in everybody that comes to a reachable range.
2. There are four main areas of SFI business communications and interactions where we come in contact with affiliates that are not our upline or downline: (a) a2a as a social media where we can built a network; (b) the forum as it gives us opportunities to exchange ideas, look at other affiliates profiles; (c) Ask SC: we can see all those who have asked questions and when the best answers are made official, we can interact with all those who have provided a reply; and (d) the winners of the Daily Grand Drawing; In all these instances, we can look at an affiliate’s profile and send them a message, after we associate with them through a2a.
Somebody may be tempted to use all or any of these avenues to market their business opportunities and try to lure affiliates away from SFI or, to the least, in concomitance with SFI. This may have a negative effect on the effectiveness of our efforts to promote SFI successfully.
People think they can multi-task, do several things at the same time. But it is proven that focusing on a single task is more effective in producing results. Any time taken away to promote another business opportunity will negatively impact SFI’s results, at least by diverting time and resources.
Hence this needs to be dealt with this problem at two levels
II. The Solutions
One solution is already in place and is being implemented. It will be effective to reinforce it with our specific actions directed to our downline.
A. First Solution: SFI’s Ethics of communications between Affiliates
1. SFI Affiliate Agreement, provision 17 states very clearly”
“17. Affiliate is strictly prohibited from soliciting SFI affiliates for other business opportunities. Although SFI takes no issue with affiliates being involved with other business opportunities outside of SFI, affiliates may not use any SFI resource or tool (i.e. TeamMail, TeamTalk, PSA Mailer, CSA Mailer, My Best Tips, etc.) to promote these other business opportunities or for-profit endeavors to other affiliates.” Thus, we have a prohibition to use SFI tools of communication to lure affiliates to other business opportunities. This applies to even our own personally sponsored affiliates (PSAs). We are reminded of this prohibition any time we want to communicate, send a message or an e-Card to other affilites.
2. To send a message to any affiliate that is not our downline or upline, we will have to be associated with them through a2a. When we access their profile and chose to send them that message, we will see the flashing warning:
“NOTE! Using a2a for the solicitation of ANY product (including co-ops), service, or program is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in your immediate suspension or termination.”
3. To send an Ecard, we also have to agree not to use the eCard for any other purpose than SFI Business, for we indeed have another warning:
“IMPORTANT! Using Affiliate E-Cards for any purpose other than what they are designed for is prohibited. Using Affiliate E-Cards for advertising or soliciting, for example, will result in suspension and/or loss of access privileges.”
Despite the precautions built in SFI, still people ignore such warning either knowingly or unaware of them. Thus, we may want to make our affiliates sensitive to the issue
B. Helping our Affiliates focus on SFI and its Multiple Streams of Income.
It is a matter of both (i) helping our Affiliates be aware of the rules and ethics as well as (ii) showing them the full potential of SFI, the possibilities of making an excellent living by promoting all the streams of income offered here.
As the provision 17 of the SFI Affiliate Agreement opens the door for us to run other businesses simultaneously, it also prohibit us from using SFI’s tools to do so. However clearly, it is to our disadvantage to divert our time and resources from the Multiple Streams of income it offers. This is a proven system that has very few similarities with other home based businesses.
Thus, it is to our advantages to help our affiliates see all the potential SFI is offering us.
Truly, these are the most sensible ways to handle this issue properly.

This is not 'bribing".

Rather, it is a wise use of incentives.

A. It is very appropriate to use these incentives to help us be an "Awesome Sponsor".

All the incentives SFI makes available to us to be an "Awesome Sponsor" are appropriate to use to train and grow our teams of affiliates whether personally sponsored or co-sponsored.

Rather, the question is "how to use them effectively?"

Our success depends on our ability to sponsor, train and help our affiliate duplicate our efforts.

Gifts certificates, Tcredits and other incentives such as Membership within a S-Builder Co-op are instrument with which we can help our affiliates. and make our teams stronger, motivated and very active.

B. Use these incentives as Rewards in Contests

When we organize contests, we are helping our affiliates set goals.

Goal setting is of extreme importance.

You can find excellent examples of goal setting within SFI with the Winter, Spring Challenges.

You can use these challenges to organize your own contests within your team or create new contests of your own.

Use these incentives to reward the winners in your contest.

This way, it will not back fire on you.

There are two full pages of different marketing methods for beginners that are easy to implement by new PSAs.

I have counted over 12 of such marketing methods

The easiest and most effective may be the following:

(i)) Referring friends and family to specific URLs of individual products. You can find a URL to a given product within the SFI Affiliate tab on each product's details page.

(ii)Sharing information about TripleClicks products via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social networking sites you visit. Just click the "Share It!"button on each product's details page and follow the instructions. Be sure you're logged into TripleClicks.com, so your SFI ID will be attached to your shared information and you will receive credit for sales.

(iii)Adding a signature that promotes TripleClicks to your e-mail. Most modern e-mail browsers allow you to set up a "signature" that gets automatically appended to every e-mail you send out. Choose one of these text ads to use for your signature.

I seleceted the above as they target our warm markets (Family, friends, co-workers an others with whom we may interact on a daily basis. There are other methods that are outlined in the module as well.

Offline classes and seminars can be organized only if you can get your PSAs in the same location.

If you have a strong team of PSAs in your own country, and/or preferably in the same city, you may think of using offline training.

Even if you have affiliates in other cities within your own country, you may want to consider the implied costs of offline training. You will incur such costs you would not with online training: transportation, finding an appropriate meeting place, and possibly meals and drinks associated with those meetings.

Technology is also available that allow you to hold training when people are in different locations. but such technology is rather expensive and is not widespread or readily available outside of major corporations.

This will limit you though.

SFI is a business that reaches worldwide. Your sponsoring efforts should not be limited to your own country or our own city.

Online webinars and training might be much less expensive and more convenient. For one you may reach a larger audience with less cots.

I can relate to the way you are formulating your question.

The wise Team Leader should have concerns both for the non active affiliate as well as the over-active ones, when there is evidence that they may loose their momentum to the point to think about quitting.

I. It can be worrisome when new affiliate rush to accumulate action points, clicking on all the learning modules and the launchpad lessons without really reading them, let alone understanding them and being able to implements the knowledge and tips contained within. SFI warns us against that.

How many an affiliate reach, in their first month, Gold Team Leader (GTL), or even Platinum Team Leader (PTL), with the change that occurred recently, but barely able to rise back to Bronze Team Leader (BTL) or even Executive Affiliate (EA) in their second month.

It is a heavy handicap when affiliates do not have the knowledge and have to spend a lot of time looking for answers.

The worst may be the potential for an Affiliate who reached a high Team Leader Rank, to loose focus and determination and contemplate quitting, because of not being able to maintain that higher rank they had previously achieved.

II. However we should avoid making hasty generalizations.

We cannot judge everybody or foresee all their potential and ability to perform. Some Affiliate may work hard and be steadfast, well organized in their learning as well as performing the tasks that will propel them rapidly to High Team Leader Ranks.

There are two important aspects of our tasks as affiliates on which the Team leader should draw the attention of their over-active affiliate, give them balance and help them maintain their ranks:

A. Motivating Affiliates and teaching them duplication.
If the new affiliate is focusing on sponsoring as well, it will be very beneficial if they reach rapidly high team leader ranks, teach that to those they will sponsor.

B. Helping Associates learn how to start making money with SFI.
Our goals for getting into business is to make money. The sooner we do, the stronger we will feel about SFI and the eager we will be to go out and sponsor.

An affiliate who good at sponsoring will build their team, earn commissions and maintain their Team Leader rank.

I have personally earned commissions the first month I joined and kept doing so every month.

I believe this is the solution to the problem you are raising.

If a sponsor helps a PSA develop prospecting and sponsoring skills until he/she has personally sponsored at least five executive affiliates (EA), that affiliate will be on their way to achieving Team Leader rank.

This is precisely our goal: to develop SFI team leaders. All our duplication efforts and support to our team are geared towards helping them reach, maintain and progress through team leadership ranks. Thus, it should be the focus of our every day’s actions.

We have a comprehensive knowledge base in the sponsoring training modules. We also have a detailed plan of action based on that knowledge. If we follow this plan, we will solidify our team leadership ranks and help our PSAs reach the same ranks and progress further.

This is what I am doing to help my affiliates grow as team leaders and continue to make progress.
In the snapshot/affiliate manager, we have a list of activities to help us provide personalized support to our PSAs. I personally am making efforts to follow the checklist.

It is also what I recommend to any sponsor. I am paraphrasing, below, the main points in the checklist.

- We are wisely advised to be, “first and foremost, a friend and a mentor”. A sponsor should help their PSAs put together the infrastructure for building a business. Our job, as sponsors, is to provide a professional, one-on-one relationship with our PSAs.

- Our communication with our team members should be regular, and relevant to their situation, answering questions, providing directions. To be effective in our support, we should be familiar with their goals and discuss with them how to help them reach those goals.

- It is important for the affiliate to know about the compensation plan. We also will do well by giving incentives, such as free leads, SFI Gift Certificate, and reassign affiliates to the most active ones. These will help them and encourage them to accumulate VersaPoints and become Executive Affiliates and Team Leaders.

- One of the most important parts of training affiliates is teaching them to duplicate our sponsoring success. We have to be successful in sponsoring first and help them do the same. Hence, sponsoring guidelines, does and don’ts are a central part of the support and training we provide to our teams members.

We, as well, as our team members should be thoroughly familiar with the marketing aids and methods, as these are the most efficient tools for referring new affiliates.
