I've won going both ways. You must study the auctions, then develop a strategy for bidding both ways. Set a budget for testing both strategies. Once you have your strategies formalized and corresponding budgets ready, then test both extensively, sticking to your budgets religiously. You will gain enough experience from these tests to then be able to win at times with either.
Be sure you consider all the multiple factors, such as time of day, type of auction, product type, and other factors which can have a negative affect the ending price. Watch for anything can result in large increases in the ending price. Build this information into your strategies, stick to it, and you can become a successful bidder often.

No one makes any money here if nothing is sold. One can earn nice commissions as well as VersaPoints if they can get products advertised in free places where people are looking for them When something is sold, you earn the commission as well as the VP if the buyer is listed as your PRM. Should this buyer then become your PSA, you’ll earn the commissions, he/she will get the VP.

Another way to succeed without spending any of your own money is to list any used items you don’t need on your TConnect page, then use these proceeds to fund your team building through PSAs To Go, S-Builder, PSA and CSA auctions, advertising packages from ECAs.. For the auctions, you use some of the proceeds from your own sales to purchase TCredit packages for bidding.

Creativity is the key; put on your thinking cap. You may come up with a novel way to sell you haven’t thought of yet. Why not post flyers in your neighborhood? You can recruit for team-building and make sales through this method.

The sky here is the limit for a free-thinking soul who don’t mind some hard work and being available online when needed by your team. Success doesn’t come to those who wait, it comes to those who take decisive action.

At it's best, this question is one for which it would be difficult to assign an exact answer (time frame). There can be only an assumption that anyone's success goal can be accomplished in a set time frame. So then success could become a fleeting thing for many.

However, IMHO, I personally believe this will differ with everyone, because first, what does "becoming successful" mean?

When you can set "your personal success goals" and develop a plan which should help you realize them, maybe you can then determine the time span required to achieve these goals. Will it be possible to achieve them working one hour a day for a year, or by working two hours daily for six months?

So it depends on what success means to each individual. Some may be happy to reach their success goal of BTL in six months, while another may be content to reach it in one year.

Remember, the best laid plans may still go awry. A definite time frame for success: nada.

This is assuming you equate "good, new affiliates" to someone who will actually stick around long enough to learn how SFI works, and then begin doing all the recommended actions to succeed, so here goes.

We have lots of ways, such as S-Builder and other co-ops, as well as our own advertisements we run, whether free or paid. Problem is, most everything we do seems to be counter-productive. And no one understands why. It's caused by the instant gratification everyone we recruit seems to expect, and it must also be FREE for them.

So what is the "best" way? That is what we are all looking for, and if we ever find it, we're all sure to work it to death, bleed it dry. Effectively, the best way is whatever you do which produces the maximum results you're expecting and need to build an effective team or downline. I can't pinpoint exactly what it will take, but the one thing missing is we can't seem to recruit independent, self-reliant, self-confident, self-starters. When you are able to fill your downline with these kinds of affiliates, then you will have found your "best way" of recruiting.

The decision to upgrade rests with the person, so what can you do?

Well, let’s look at some of the things we shouldn’t do first.

Don’t make it the first order of business when they have just registered. This could be a “red” flag to them, that you’re looking out for your own interests.
Don’t emphasize your own accomplishments; they want to know “wiifm” - “what’s in it for me”.
Don’t pry into their financial standing; this information will become evident soon enough.
Don’t bombard them with too many messages; they may see this as “spam”, and it may cause information overload. Take their educating and training seriously.

There may some other important issues you shouldn’t bring up right from the start; you can probably think of a few.

What should you do?

Gain their trust; try to learn what motivates them, what they expect to gain from SFI, etc, No one will follow and duplicate if this trust isn’t first established.
Help them reach an understanding with exactly what they have become involved.
Demonstrate your willingness to provide the support they require, then follow through.
Give them every opportunity to learn and earn at their own pace; never apply any urgency to their actions, except maybe for completing the actions required to maintain their status at month’s end, etc.
Impress upon them you believe in them, their desires, capabilities, wants, needs, etc.

Show them you are “in” it for them; that their genuine interests are aligned with yours. They will apply themselves with dedication to reach their goals, those you have helped them realize are not only possible, but doable.

We're all unique individuals, and a "one size fits all" answer won't get the job done. What works for Bob will cause Tom to become an utter failure.
So my best answer to "how can I make money with SFI" is: first and foremost, SFI is not an easy, get-rich-quick scheme. It is a long term investment in yourself and your abilities to learn and implement a proven system, which has been delivering for over thirteen years, to thousands around the world. If you possess a dogged commitment, have the will to work and train hard, to forge ahead when all seems fruitless, you can succeed with SFI while making the money you want.
To do so, you must commit to reading volumes of information and training materials, to learning all SFI provides to make the system work when applied correctly. And that is key: the correct application of the principles and practices SFI has devised "through trial and error" over the years, which, when brought together into a whole, will provide the roadmap to earning almost any amount of money you desire and bring you much success.
Your sponsor can only guide and advise; other affiliates can only make suggestions, all which may or may not work for you. The information is there. YOU and only YOU will ultimately be responsible for your own success or failure. No one can force success upon you, can guarantee any certain outcome for you. It all comes down to your will and desire; whether you're a responsible individual, are dedicated to designing your own financial destiny.
This is how you will make money with SFI, or any other plan, for that matter.

Any contest may work, depending on your group. If most of your people never log in, then design your contest to benefit your EA2's and above, those who continue logging in. All of them need new sign-ups to grow and earn commissions.

Maybe you could run a preliminary contest to determine potential interest in contest participation, awarding TCredits to all who respond. When you've collected the preliminary information, then you can set up a contest designed around their responses.

Remember, you can offer the moon, but if there is no potential interest, you'll be wasting your time.

I once ran a contest for new people, giving away the farm in the process. Guess what? Absolutely no one was interested, did not get anyone to qualify, so I shut it down after the end of the first month. Disappointed? Yes, so I haven't tried one since.
