I will say leading by example in sfi is doing what is espected of you in sfi.
Your badges on your home page tells it all.Your PSA and CSA will want to see rather than hear what you want him/her to do.
When you tell your CSA/PSA to make EA every month,you also should do what you want them to do.
Telling them to always buy from TC store,you also should lead by example because most of the affiliate goes to the home pages of their sponsor and co-sponsor to see how their leader is going about their business.
Conclusively,leading by example is you do your csa/psa watch,both of you do both of you watch and he do,you watch,
That's practise makes perfect.

Training is very essential in every field of endeavour to succeed.Putting this in pespective in regard to the question been asked "what is the best way to train my personal sponsor affiliates (PSAs)and co-sponsor affiliates(CSAs)?"
Firstly,let them learn and put to practice the rules of success in SFI.
Secondly,tell them about the launchpad courses,basics of sfi and the best way to start and improve their sfi business that has work for you and other successful affiliate in sfi.
Thirdly,use any means of communication that is suitable to you and them to always cantact them.
Lastly,direct them to the training materials on sfi site and explain to them how they can learn from them and benefit from the training materials.There are alot of training materials on sfi site,try to support your answers to their questions or support your trainings with sfi link to that particular subject you are explaining to them.
