You should upgrade to Team Leader status as soon as you can afford to. Even before you sponsor anyone, upgrading to BTL gives you more credibility and will help your sponsoring. If you can afford to go BTL as soon as you join you should do this. Getting to BTL will among other things give you 40-60 CSA's every month you retain this rank. On one occasion I was given a reassigned CSA who had already reached EA2 that month before the reassignment went through.
The best way is to put in Standing order for 125 TCredits immediately to earn 1500 Sales VP and 100 bonus Action VP. You should also put in an SO for 2 shares in S-Builder Co-op for another 560 SVP, taking your total of SVP to over 2000 for a total standing order cost of $80.25. You then only need 1000 AVP to get to BTL.
Getting 1000 AVP should be approached with the idea of using as few of the once-only occuring TO-DO LIST as possible. Without using any of them and just doing Daily Actions, weekly and monthly actions and not using any of your TCredits you can gain at least 380 AVP in a full month. By using up only 2 TCredits a day - one on an Eager Zebra game and the other on making one only bid on a PriceBenders Auction, you can gain another 3 AVP a day or 90AVP over a full month, which would bring your AVP so far up to 570 AVP. The remaining 65 TCredits would get you another 65 AVP, bringing it up to 635 AVP.
The 125 TCredits will give you 8 MRP when you buy them and 625 MRP when you use them and the 2 S-Builder shares another 10 MRP. The MRP should be saved up for a few months and used to buy another S-Builder share, without spending a cent.
The remaining AVP to be earned - a minimum of 365 AVP, but it could be up to twice that, depending on what time in the month you become a member, can be easily obtained from the other items on the To-Do list.
If you follow this strategy, the To-Do List will last for many months instead of the one and a bit months it lasts for those who rush in and grab all the free AVP they can as soon as they can, and maintaining BTL over several months will be relatively easy.
If new affiliates were acquainted with this strategy before they had earned 1 AVP, the retention rate would dramatically improve, and the number of affiliates earning 150 bonus AVP for their sponsors for getting to BTL would increase by a huge margin.
All of the above assumes you can afford $80 a month. But as we all know, the vast majority of affiliates do not have this sort of money, if they have any money at all. It does not alter the fact that all affiliates should strive for BTL as soon as possible.
For those without money, they should find out what they can sell on TripleClicks, as an ECA preferably, and raise the money from sales.
