If you make that statement in a normal conversation with people they might look at you as if you are loosing your marbles. They might even tell you that much - but the truth is you are 100% right. It does not make sense does it?
You would think a fear of failure would be what is holding people back but it is not. It just gives them an excuse. It is easier to deal with failure if that is what you expect.
Now imagine you are used to failures and here is an opportunity for you to actually succeed. In the 1st place you are going to think, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. How do you handle an experience if you never dealt with it before? It is not as if they sit there and think I am scared to succeed, no its deep down, they are not even aware of it. I don't mean this nasty or condescending - they need therapy to recognise it before they can do something about it. Like with every problem in life the 1st step is to admit the problem - even if you don't know what it actually is. It is a blockage that needs to be removed - which you can not do.
Does that mean you can do nothing? Certainly not. Take it easy, baby steps, with every small step they take and see success it will give them a taste of how sweet success is and slowly but surely you help them to achieve success. If it happens gradually it is not so scary, it almost happens without them realizing that they are conquering a fear they did not even realize they had.
If somebody has a fear of water - are you going to take him out on a boat and dump him in the middle of the ocean? Of course not - you will slowly but surely get them used to water so they can see if you use your head there is nothing to be scared of.

How do you manage your team with many cultures and timezones to navigate?

Thank goodness for modern technology - it shrinks the world a whole lot so it does not really matter where your team is. You do your part like placing adverts, sending mails to your team when you are awake and they will react to your adverts or read your mails when they are awake - so the different time zones is not that important - although it would be nice if you catch them online despite the different time zones so you could have a one on one chat to them - but if it does not happen it is not a train smash.
As far as culture goes I feel the keyword is respect. Show your interest in them as human beings by finding out for instance about Hindi holidays and wish them well. So what I am saying is improve your own general knowledge by doing a little research about the culture of you affiliates and use it to show your good intentions towards them.
The only thing that I find the biggest obstacle is language - even with Google Translate the message does not always gets translated to its full effect. My solution for this with inactive affiliates that might be inactive because of a language barrier?
If I have a worker that speaks the same language as some of the inactive affiliates I explain my thinking to them and ask if they would be willing to take over the affiliate in their team and try to get them to work - I then transfer if possible to that PSA - if they have success we all win.
Hope this will give you a few ideas. Good luck.

What are some ways to demonstrate to team members the importance of reading a little daily at the SFI Affiliate Center?

When I send out my weekly team mail I do a short summary of the most important things for that week - I give them just enough to peak their interest so that they would want to know more.
With the affiliates I have regular personal contact I remind them to read so that they will not loose out on something great - like the new Spin to win.
If you mention them and what they achieved in my stream post they would read to see if they were mentioned again - they are human after all.
Life is a game - which includes SFI. Games are played in the boardrooms, a game of golf between businessmen to secure a deal, politics are a game. People get married and play house-house. Most of these games as very serious - but a game nonetheless.
So instead of telling them - make a game of it. Give them a piece to read to find the answer to a question. You can give the winner 2 t-credits as prize and it will make them as happy as every T-time win makes us. Just a mention that they are the champions is something to be proud of. Eventually they will realize the advantages of reading something every day.

You can lead a horse to the water but you can not make it drink.
As a team leader you can encourage, support and give them all the information they need. You can lead by example and you can give them the advantage of your knowledge and experience but if they do not listen or if they are too lazy to work to earn money there is absolutely nothing you can do
Do not give up on them if they are not active. Keep on sending your weekly mails - one day you might just say something to peak their curiosity and they start working. Be quick to welcome them back and make sure they know you are happy to help them.

How do I advertise if I want to reach a specific target group?

To advertise to reach a specific target group you first need to know the likes, dislikes and interests of your target group.
Once you know this you can look for a website or magazine that targets that group and place an advertisement that would peak their interest.
If you want to target pensioners you will not find them on a teen website or reading a teen magazine.
If you want to target people that speak the same language as you, you will not advertise in a foreign country.
My last piece of advice will be not to limit yourself to one group when you advertise. Advertise in different places to reach different target groups.

Should my ads link to my own webpage/blog...or to an SFI Gateway? Which is the best approach and why?

How successful is your own webpage / blog? Do you get a lot of traffic? If you do advertise your gateways on your own page.
If you do not see a lot of traffic on your page you might get more traffic there by linking some of your adverts to your own page and others to a different gateway.
An advantage on your own page is that you can place YOUR ads and you can allow others that is not in competition with you to advertise there because they are going to bring extra traffic to your page with their own ads. You might ask them a reasonable fee to advertise and in the process attracting more serious advertisers and make a few bucks extra as a bonus.

Can I set up my SFI business to run on autopilot? If so, how?

You can do anything you want to do - the question is: Is it a good idea to set up your business to run on autopilot?
In my opinion NO, it is not a good idea.
You can set up auto responds to acknowledge that you received an e-mail - but you have to follow it up with a personal response.
You can set up many things to happen automatic - but nothing can replace the personal touch.
One of the reasons why I like SFI is people. You are dealing with people and you are a person - you are not just a number in a series of numbers and you are not getting a standard answer from a machine.
Think about it in real life terms - how do you feel when you phone a company and all you get is a voice on a machine giving you choices and then more choices and you never get to speak to a human being that can answer your unique question?
If SFI was run on autopilot - would you be able to ask this question? If you could answer - how many real answers would you get?

I would say your 1st priority would be to complete your profile and do enough to earn your fast track badge.
Once you have that I would say slow down and get to know the business by doing your Launchpad lessons - with the goal to learn - not just to earn VP.
If you have a question contact your sponsor and ask or go through the website and find the answer yourself.
One of the start-up actions is a commitment message to your sponsor - but I would say before you send that message to your sponsor go and stand in front of a mirror and take a good honest look at yourself. Are you prepared to invest your time and energy and maybe later your money to grow your business?
Write out a commitment message to yourself - if you can not commit to yourself you do not belong here.

Why is it important to visit the SFI forum daily?

For one you can get a cool GURU badge if you actively take part.
The Forum is also the place where you can voice your opinion and ask questions and get reaction relatively quickly.
SFI encourage discussions on the forum because it gives them an idea how our heads are working, what we like or not, if you make suggestions it might just give them an answer to a question they are trying to find a solution for.
One example - they might ask you to do a survey but the questions give you a choice of answers but no opportunity to explain your choice - you can discuss this on the FORUM.
How many times did a website you visited regularly made chances that you did not like but you can not voice your opinion? It is frustrating!!
You get to know more people outside of your team and you A2A friends - people that might play a big role in your success.
The Forum is a mine of information, tips and help - use it.

How can we determine beforehand what are good spots to advertise?

There are no guarantees but there's a few things you can do to better your chances.
Your A2A friends are a good place to start - if you are in the same country you can help each other to find the good spots.
Your up line can help you to find good spots.
You can also google keywords and see where they take you - that would be a good place to advertise.
Any of the team leaders can help you here - they had success somewhere - that is why they are team leaders.
I placed a list of places to advertise on my leadership page to help my affiliates - maybe your sponsor did the same.
