Helping your affiliate team members in the generations below your PSAs can be a little challenging. Assisting individual members requires MORE THAN sending out group mailers. Group mailers are great for those who are "plugged in." Individual attention is necessary and even critical in the faceless, anonymous world of the internet. The effort may seem time consuming, but consider the rewards as you build leaders in depth.

FACE IN THE CROWD
Most people join a business on the internet because they prefer the anonymity. They want to join without person to person pressure. They tolerate the emails that seem to be scripted and/or automatically generated in some fashion. However! There comes a point when most people are ready to find out about the man behind the curtain! They are ready for inter-personal interaction.

The forum posts in SFI are well populated with affiliates who bemoan the lack of contact from their up line members, and many of the posts complain of only getting group mailers! One of my favorite quotes comes from Cavett Roberts (who has addressed thousands of network marketers in his lifetime), “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” The only way to help someone feel like they are more than a face in the crowd is to single them out. Fortunately, you can comfortable do that by making a personal contact with them.

GETTING YOUR COMMUNICATION PAST THE BARRIERS
Unfortunately the only way to do this is through the Genealogy Mailer. There comes a point when all of the marketing generated hype and all of the email campaigns from every guru on the internet is as annoying as the steady drone of traffic on a main artery boulevard in the city. Even these communications (auto-generated) “try to” appear to be personalized. The recipient knows the difference, and frankly (much of the time) it insults their intelligence. So how do we make the more personable connection through the Genealogy Mailer?

First of all, select ONE team member to receive your correspondence. And then, do this one by one. You may be tempted to personalize a form letter, but don’t—not this time. It is worth the effort to inspire people in depth to build their business to a leadership level! Their dreams depend on it—and so does the success of your business. SHOW YOU CARE!

Granted, it would be easier through our outside email. Coming through the Mailer definitely looks like a systematic event. However, putting careful (more personable) wording in the subject field, and making observational remarks about the recipient’s history with SFI (it can be seen through their profile) within the body of your note will demonstrate that time and attention is being given to them. THIS SHOWS THAT YOU CARE!

Go one step further: let them know that you wanted to take the time to personally touch base with them. There was even a time when I misspelled their name and sent the message—in my horror, and wrote them again (immediately) and apologized and explained to them that I work my SFI business late and I mistyped or misspelled their name! You know what—I received a reply from that person! My point is, don’t be afraid to be human here. After all (this bears repeating), how many affiliates bemoan the lack of personal contact. So, again, don’t be afraid to be human—we all need the human touch!

Close your note with genuine interest and concern. Sure you can try to reward them for contacting you with T-Credits—but in essence that misses the nature of this type of contact. Let them know you will look for their reply. Share your anticipation of their reply AFTER you leave some sort of open ended question (again, one that demonstrates you truly are interested in them as a person in business).

Not everyone will respond. Some may still see it as a scripted letter; others may not even open it. But some will respond. In fact more will respond to your efforts than if you made no effort at all. One day, that team member may credit you for their success and the realization of some of their dreams!

When communicating with your downline, a best practice is to USE A COMBINATION of your own email along with the SFI Genealogy Mailer features.

First of all, when using the Genealogy Mailer, you accumulate points as you are allowed 30 VP each week for the utilization of this tool. Also, you can communicate with different groups within your team, PSAs, CSAs, geographic groups, various generations, etc. The important part of this feature is that weekly communications to your team are important. The group mailer is perfect for this as you don't have email addresses for those beyond your first generation. My suggestion is to address it as a team mailer, or somehow acknowledge that it is a group mailing so people have the correct perspective.

Secondly, you can contact individuals in your the generations beyond the first level through the Group mailer feature. You can select the filters and choose to identify an affiliate according to their name or SFI id number. You can then write them a personal note. Personal notes are imporant, even though they are likely to be overlooked, or even thought of as being autogenerated. Write them anyway, and contact those who are active on a personal basis regularly. Another group would be those who started and gave up. Send them a personal note through this feature and ask them if they ran into any problems or became discouraged, and offer them your assistance.

Third, Sending your PSAs and CSAs an email from your own email account adds an important personal touch. A few things about this:
1. If you have a client management software (outlook, or something similar), you can click the green envelope and send them a note from your own personal email box.

2. When writing them, let them know you are contacting them personally. This helps demonstrate the sincerity of your interest in their success. Comment on specific progress that can't readily be identified by automatic driven email tools. Again, my experience has been a lot of people have a perception that even this sort of communication is bot driven. Encourage them to contact you.

3. Frequently send quick notes. Sometimes we try to be formal and business-like. Establishing trust and confidence requires making some sort of valuable personal connection (while still being professional). This sort of note sending has often resulted in a chat-like exchange through email which can result in your offering to chat with your team member to quicken the information and conversation exchange for them.

So, basically, what is best is to utilize both venues of communication. Your personal email address with a personal note is a powerful tool as much as the amazing features of the SFI Group Mailer. Both serve an important purpose. When ever you can use both options with a team member you also increase your chances of them opening your email to them and getting past the accidental placement in the spam box.

Finding SFI success stories is certainly beneficial to energizing our faith, hope, and commitment to our own SFI business. Because the laws regulating this sort of business are very particular, SFI provides us with some DON'Ts when it comes to how we promote our successes. Yet, there are obvious successes, and there is a way to find those stories.
First, try your UP LINE LEADERS. Since success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream or goal, no one person has "arrived." We are realizing successes along the way. However, looking for that shining example or testimonial isn't as hard as it seems. Depending on how an affiliates business is structured, there can be handsome sums of money being earned at almost any level. So, under the SUPPORT button on the home page tool bar you will find in the scroll down "Your UpLine." Click it. Now, anyone of them can share some success stories...howbeit..find the Gold Team Leaders, and naturally the Platinum Team Leaders and contact them and ask them if they'd share their success story.
I would suggest doing a search on the subject. I found one of the Platinum Team Leader's interview and wow...I was INSPIRED! There was testimonial content, and some good tidbits on how he does what he does!
Success stories are important. It's important to find those who have the fruit on the tree. Anyone can offer an idea, or an opinion, but let EXPERIENCE WITH PROVEN RESULTS do the speaking! If the fruit is on the tree...listen to what's being said or written. Take some notes...if you have a chance ask some questions. Find out what successful people do and do what they do.
Another great find is YOUR OWN SFI SUCCESS STORY. Anyone can do the basics. Anyone can maintain the status quo. Anyone can talk the talk. But you--you walk the walk and let your walk do the talking...Excel. Dare to raise your standards above the average--even in this business. Remain humble. Keep the heart of a servant and serve your team. Dream Big---and dare to chase that dream--and don't you quit!!! We will be reading YOUR success story.

Inspiring your affiliates to PROMOTE TripleClicks sales requires a few important actions on your part.

1. I always promote the principle: Be Your Own Best Customer.
Every successful business owner uses their own products--in fact they BUY their own products. I worked in retail management for a multiple location Farm Market and Nursery. During my training, I happened to be cashiering (to become familiar with their unique operating system), and the founding owner happened through my service counter. I asked him how I was to handle his transaction. He told me to ring it up, just like everyone else. I then asked him if he receive a discount. He immediately chided me (and I'll never forget this), "Why would I want to take money from myself? I pay regular price. I'm not going to cheat myself. When I need to buy something, I don't buy it from my competition. I buy it from myself because my dollars are going to support MY business not someone else's." WOW!
Think of this: The best way to be able to promote a product is to use it yourself. Experiencing your own products empowers you to effectively promote them.

2. Referred memebers of TripleClicks will produce a commission and VP for an affiliate when they buy products. Some people you know simply don't want to go into business, but some of them are likely to support your business. Why not earn commision and VP by referring to TripleClicks.
Even if people don't have a personal connection with you, some of those people in the internet-world just aren't looking for our opportunity, but many of them are ON-LINE CONSUMERS. Get your portion of this market through developing a strong advertising presence on the internet and in traditional venues.
So, PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMISSIONS FROM TC SALES.

3. This leads me to an important part of how you can best inspire your affiliates to promote TC sales. You, as their sponsor, need to help empower your affiliates through informing and educating them about various marketing techniques and strategies. You either need to know this yourself, OR you need to point them in the direction of valid and legitimate resources. In addition to this, make sure they know about the various marketing tools and resources in SFI that are available to affiliates for their efforts in promoting TripleClicks. Informing and educating your affiliates in both of these capacities is a vital part of empowering them for successful sales.
So, this requires a little homework on your part as well. The important thing to realize is that when people are empowered to do something, their fear(s) and doubt(s) become IMMOBILIZED. They are more likely to do something that has a pleasant outcome when they have the confidence that what they do has a good probability of some success. By being involved in informing and educating them you develop equity in their self confidence.

Finally, it's been said, "Teach them by showing them." This is the best way. In our internet community it's hard to "show" someone how to do something. However, simply by relating your initial anxieties and feelings about this part of the business, and sharing your own experiences in learning and applying what you learned are one of your best sources of inspiration to others.

How can we motivate our friends to join SFI? Since motivation is an internal force, we can only stimulate their own internal motivation. We need to find out a real reason WHY they'd do more than what they're already doing to earn extra money, and then we need to validate SFI for them as the way through which they can realize their ambitions.

Most people need to simultaneously connect extra money with something tangible AND personally meaningful to them. Otherwise, extra money doesn't really have a value to them. Often times tossing out the general idea of earning extra income means having one more demand when they already feel too busy. That's when we hear, "I don't have the time for anything else."

HERE'S AN ILLUSTRATION:
Let's say extra money means becoming debt free (just for an example). This is something tangible and of personal value to anyone who has debts. Through our interaction with our friends we can relate becoming debt free to the income potential with SFI. In our conversation with that person, we can take it a step further by leading them to think about and really imagine what they would be able to do with the extra income that empowered them to become debt free COMBINED with the money they used to spend to finance their debt. Can you see where this sort of interaction goes even further in attaching a tangible and personal value to the otherwise vague concept of earning extra income/money?

Getting them to talk about their specific desires and ambitions IS the way to stimulate their motivation to becoming involved with the SFI opportunity. As they talk about these things, and reflect on them in detail, their motivation level will rise. What inspired this reaction? You did, by taking an interest in what they truly want and talking with them about how different their life could be if...they had the means to make it happen.

VALIDATING SFI
Are you successful yet. Yes, you are. You've seen some successes already. Is your success with SFI significant enough yet to bring credibility to what you're doing with SFI? It depends...If not, talk about the succeses of others in SFI. In fact, that is usually the best way to validate SFI (regardless of the level of your success). There are plenty of success stories here. Just find them and familiarize yourself with them, and then promote the successes of other people while expressing your own excitement with the opportunity.

The art of inspiring your friends' motivation coupled together with properly validating SFI will faciliate a good success rate in sponsoring the people you know.
