If the affiliate logs in after a long time away, I think he/she should be acknowledged. After all, he/she is a member of your SFI team.

As for what you should say, I don't think you should ask your affiliate where he/she has been-that's private. Welcome them back, ask them what they remember. If need be, start them off fresh as if he/she just joined SFI. (Start, SFI Basics, LaunchPad; tell them to read Forum posts, search the Forum and research the black toolbar on his/her SFI Homepage.)

I'm happy that you don't want to sound greedy. When I think of (or know!) greedy people, they take too much and don't or rarely give or they make "grabby hands" and almost bark "gimme."

I think you have to consider the finances of your team members, what each one says they. they can spend per month in their Affiliate Profile, and the unexpected. And, I'll be bold, those whom don't want to spend a coin if their lives depend on it. Asking your dowline to spend $36.25USD even one month might seem like you're asking them to spend $360.25 if they can't feed themselves.

I live on a budget, I allow for my SFI business, and I became a Silver Team Leader after spending just $36.25USD. (It's what I did with and without my Standing Order of Tcredits 125 Pack. I have my own shoes to fill.)

If you just ask them to spend and don't say why, why should they spend? I give strangers money but not $36.25 of any currency if I don't have it. If you explain how much you spend and on what, how it benefits you then and what it could/would do for you in the future, if you tell them you could guide them so that they, too, will become EA (or even your higher rank)...Then you might have them buying.

I'm going to tell my team my secrets. So far I've always given tips. This is the first month after the holidays. My finances were low. SI was happy to requalify as a Bronze Team Leader and now I am a Silver Team Leader. Having a $36.25USD Standing Order, this month it was all I had, has always come in handy. I intend to keep it. (I would eat canned peas rather than lose this SO - and I don't like canned peas.)

Robert, if you fully explain what it is you want your downline to spend money on, I used the SO, if you explain the benefits to yourself and to them, you shouldn't have a problem. Not unless their finances (one of my team members had car bills) stand in their ways; that's out of your control.

You could always start off with a nice greeting to your team and say, "Please, I hope you don't think I sound greedy as I have your best interests at heart. I know you want to succeed in your SFI business and I, as your Team Leader, want that for you. Your success is my success. Let me explain..."

Seriously, the way I classify myself is I'm an "independent online marketer. (Personally, I think we have been beaten over our heads by "Internet - we know already!)

I joined SFI and I have my own SFI business. My business includes SFI's online superstore, which I can purchase from, TripleClicks. I can also sponsor and/or be awarded affiliates for my team.

SFI bases a part of an affiliate's earnings on its own VersaPoints system. The more VP you have, the higher your rank and shares in the TripleClicks Executive Pool. As a Team Leader, you can also get matching VP on your downline once team members gain the rank of EA2. There are other perks. (Now yell "Woo-hoo!")

If I have their attention long enough, I tell them how SFI works, I ask them if they want to work online. (Sometimes I waste my time.) For sure, I ask them if they shop online and I rave on about TripleClicks - join free, the nice things I bought at unbelievable prices, Pricebenders. I tell them how many times I've won my favourite game, Pick The Price and, second to that, T-Time.

I consider my relationship to SFI as one of SFI as a business and my SFI business working together. I think it is favourable for SFI as I buy a lot of Tcredits and items in general from TripleClicks. I think I have gained by earnings and most certainly by what I have been awarded or won.

To put my relationship with SFI and TripleClicks in a nutshell, I joined SFI last summer 2014. On day 1 I did 4 things on my To-Do List and I was hooked. Right then I decided this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am still at it and today I qualified as a Silver Team Leader.

I think, when you feel what your relationship is by what you do, you know what to say. Go with your heart, your mind and your intuition.

As an ECA, you know the items you are selling and the prices you are selling them at better than anyone. You know, deep down, if you are offering unique items or not, and how expensive (or, OK, dirt cheap) they are.

Personally, my kick is "quality for cheap". Let me show you my TripleClicks Wishlist sometime - a laptop, real jewelry for cheap, kitchen tool and, of course, stuff for my SFI business.

Chances are, you have something like that I could buy. Why not pitch your goodies to your downline? Think of things you sell that they and/or someone they know could use.

You might want to think of yourself as an affiliate who is looking to buy from your ECA. What would they be looking to buy? (That sounds like me when I go to a grocery store without a list.) For a start, business. Second, "stuff." Jewelry, gifts, kitchen gadgets...Who knows? Anything that's unique, interesting and helpful. (Well, that's coming from me who thinks chocolate is a food group.)

If you are wondering how to pitch your ECA and products to your downline, I would suggest a newsletter or connect with them via a Facebook page for your ECA as TripleClicks is OK on Facebook. (Or you could use others on social media, have a website or blog, etc.)

I have a couple of things in my favour: I work on my trusted smartphone plus I get up early (4 a.m., sometimes 3:30 a.m.) even when I go to bed late. My time, Eastern Time, ET, is just 1 hour ahead of SFI's CT time, 10.5 hours behind India, 3 hours ahead of Western Canada and the US Northwest...So, I can make myself available and stay in touch on the go and, as some might think, at weird hours.

As for personalized service, I am a full believer in it. All of my emails are written on my smartphone (I'm sure my left index finger hates me) and they are individual, even lengthy. Most emails take 45 minutes to 1 hour to write but I spread my work out. As long as I contact those whom I want to contact - and soon - I'm sane.

Sometimes it's a case of time management, just making time. If I plan to send out emails, I start first thing and do them in batches all day, for days. It keeps me busy. If you have to send out emails with the same content, try one or two of the Mailers (PSA, CSA or Genealogy Group.)

Very recently, on my smartphone, I went into Play Store (Google Play) and I downloaded a nice. text editor. With the text editor, I plan to make an instructions and guidance file. I keep forgetting to use the text editor. :-)

Personally, I think it's a great idea! Why not? If you have the time to take care of the extra business properly and if you have the financial resources involved i.e. for shipping, just two factors to consider, do it.

I have been doing my own art since I was 10. I joined SFI in the summer of 2014. I listed two (2) pieces of art as Member Listings. Sigh, rejected. Handmade = new; the person at TripleClicks Support thought I qualify as an ECA.

When I get my SFI business hours down, I might become an ECA and (I hope) sell my art. My art keeps me busy as well. Right now I am choosing to work in my SFI business. An ECA? Maybe. I need a lot more time.

I admire anyone with goals and ambition. I am a "doer" by nature, I am always busy, and I am a go-getter. I beieve that you should have success when you go for it and you want it badly enough. And if you want to keep it badly enough, you'll do your best. It sounds like a winner to me!

By identifying future PTLs and stopping there, I think you would be limiting your SFI business. Also, they are future PTLs, they aren't PTLs yet, and anything can happen to or with them. Only fate knows for sure.

If something should happen to even one (1) of your five (5), there goes your unit. Too late. If you have budding stars, with you acting as an Awesome Sponsor, they might become real PTLs.

If you can afford it, buy products to further your business or improve your life from TripleClicks. That's what I do. I joined SFI on July 7, 2014 (not long ago) and in August I started two Standing Orders, one for Tcredits 125 Pack worth 1,500 VP monthly. I use the Tcredits for auctions/games, get bonus VP, 5 MRP for each. Buy 1 Tcredit with 126 MRP and I buy single T-credits for 102 VP each.

I worked on the phone for 22.5 years, 15 of those years were in cold calling. Unless you can be yourself and sell, have a way of working on the phone while sticking to a script, unless you like talking with (or just to) people...unless you can take rejection, name calling and ear abuse, I wouldn't suggest it.

Also, you need a lot of time to explain SFI, etc. and some calls can take ages to end. (You want to be nice and friendly, not brush people off like pet hair off a shirt.)

One day I called a home, asked a young man for ("Mrs. Name".) He said, "Just a minute", there was a pause and a metal whistle was loudly blown into my left ear. My left ear was left numb for almost 4 hours.

I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I had a phone slammed down in my ear, how many times I was called names, even the ways they said them. People you call can be nice, even very nice, but you can not be prepared enough for the mean ones.

I think, if you want to cold call, you might want to create a short but still explanatory script about SFI, PSAs, even TripleClicks. Get the person involved - you ask questions, they answer, you garner their interest so they ask questions. Maybe you can give them your gateways.

Make notes as you call - with whom you spoke, what was said, if you gave gateways or if you must call back. (More time on calls, calling them back.) By making notes, you have something to refer to (believe me, you'll need it) and they might want a refresher, too. (And you will know if they had lied.) You can also use your notes for when (not if, think positively) they sign up.

I don't know if you've heard of buying phone lists for cold calling but there is no guarantee with those. You still get "no", "call me back" and "I have to think about it" responses as you call and fish around for "yes!" I have worked for employers who bought cold call lists and the so-called "leads" were no good. I say, be careful.

The time of day when you will be calling will be when? You might start at 10 a.m., work until lunch, call again from 1 p.m.-3p.m. Until someone will be home at 3:30, someone else will be back from shopping at 4 (give them time to unload everything), someone else yet will be home after 5 then 4 people want to be called after dinner. That's good for 7 p.m. until who-knows-when. You need time to eat, work and oh yeah, have a shower or a bath. Try to find enough time to go for a walk/drive, even to the bank, or to email your friends.

You could try it, see how it goes. I think you could come up with a better way, really. And you'll have your life! (To say the least of your ears.)

Knowing that you are going on vacation means that you can prepare your team. Start by saying that you will be on vacation and for how long, that the Internet will not be available. (So your team does not feel deserted.)

What I would do, for at least twice the week before you leave, is send TeamMails to your team with plans. Give your team tips and things to do while you are gone. (I tell my team to research the black toolbar/menu bar on the SFI Homepage.) End your TeamMail on a positive note. Touch base with your team upon your return.
