From my experience, spending money to buy web-traffic brings very small returns, meaning that you may get some sign-ups but you may also get them by creating web traffic for free. Especially that the odds that those sign-ups will be active are infinitesimal. My advice is to try free web traffic options first, and when you are more experienced, maybe try paid advertising on FB or some ad sites.

I would think it does, as it helps to get more traffic through your sites, and the more traffic you have coming to your sites, the better the possibillity of an active sign-up.
See it as the shop at the edge of town, and compare it to a similar or identical shop at the local mall, where there are more feet, people travelling past, which do you think would be more successfull?

I think it's a really good question!
First of all I think that traffic really works but it takes some time, you must be consistent on promoting there because the most of people are around there to earn some little money and don't pay attention on what they're looking, but if you insist an mantain your banners there for a long time people sure would take your advertise seriously, it's my opinion.

The answer is both good and bad. Let give you couple of options.

One of the most powerful options are blogs. There are free blogging platforms such as Blogger.com and Weebly.com. A better choice would be WordPress. Word press you will need a hosting account and domain name. Hosting accounts and getting a domain name are reasonably inexpensive.

Once you have a blog set up, you can set up a page about SFI and use a service like FIVER to drive traffic to you blog. FIVER cost is $5

Facebook is an option, If using this route make sure you understand the rules that Facebook has set in place. You can buy advert space there and also have page specific information.

Twitter of course.

You can use Traffic Exchanges and Safelists. You can use the free services or the paid services of these sites. A word of caution. You will not be the only SFI affiliate using these services. You will have to be creative. I create my own squeeze page that sends them to my SFI page. I have had good results using this method.

There are many social sites to use. I recommend the SocialAdr site. This site will send your ad to over 20+ social sites. There are free services and paid service here.

Craigslist has given me go results.

One area that most people don't take advantage are Press Releases. You can do a search online and find multiple Press Release site.

Article marketing as given me great results. Ezine.com is a good place to start.

Linken is good business site.

Hubpages is another great site to get your message out.

Most of these you can use for free. Many of these have paid options as well.
If you are going to use any type advertising, make sure you use a good tracking services and see what works best for you and adjust your methods accordingly.

Just imagine you have a shop to sell some products. If no customer visits your shop, your business will wind up soon. You need to have your shop at a place where there is a continuous flow of traffic that is customers. Some visitors are bound to purchase from you. If you have a shop located in a remote area then your chances of making sales is very low. Internet is no different. If your business is internet based then you need constant flow of traffic to your site. You can attract traffic to your site in two ways. 1)By posting the link of your site in many different places on internet yourself, or
2)By purchasing traffic from different sellers who specialize in this.
The first method is very time consuming and it will tire you out in few days. The second option is the best if you really want to make good sales.
