Which is more effective--paid or free advertising--and why?

Both paid and free advertising can be effective.

First of all, free advertising is not really free. It takes up time, and we all know that time is money. For affiliates who have little or no time for "free" advertising, paid advertising may be more effective for them.

In order for paid advertising to be effective, though, you need to know what you're doing. If you are new to advertising online, be careful with paid advertising. You can waste a lot of money with very little results.

Spend some time - on SFI, at the IAHBE site if you have a subscription, and on the internet in general - and learn about advertising methods, how to be more effective, and how best to utilize different types of paid advertising.

I think it is better for new affiliates to start off with free advertising, then as they learn more, they can get into paid advertising, if they have the funds available.
