In relation to local sales, I would point out to prospective ECAs that due to shipping and postage costs nowadays, that local sales are the most beneficial as you can offer cheap or free postage or even a pick up service.

You need to have a goal. Gery is always speaking of setting and updating goals and many overlook this important part of business.

First, you would have set some goals when you first joined SFI. There is at the foot of your goals tab, an area where you can update them. Go to this area frequently – at least monthly. As you progress, you goals will change and they need updating.

When your goals are set, you then need a marketing plan set out on how you are going to reach these goals. So you want to be a team leader. When do you want to be a team leader? Realistically, how long do you think it will take you to get there and when you are there, can you maintain this rank long term?

This is where the notebook comes in handy. Write out your goal. Write out how one actually gets there. There is advertising to consider as well as communication, sales and general daily tasks.

Advertising is a very important part of any business whether it be online or bricks and mortar. There is free advertising and paid advertising and they are both good ways of letting people know what you are doing. Plan your advertising well and make sure you have keycodes on them all so you can see which are generating sales and which are not.

Refer to your notebook each day and make a note on how you can improve. A small improvement every day will soon amount to bigger things and ultimately your success in SFI.

This is something I feel needs updating at least every three months or so. New improvements come into SFI by Gery and his team all the time and some of these need to be pointed out in your introductory email.

A great idea which I think should be in place, is to write a selection of emails yourself with a view to forwarding them on to your team members to use.

You need to compose 5 or 6 emails, save them in Word and then email your team members and ask them whether they would like you to provide them with an introductory email which they could then forward on to their new PSAs.

Go through the newbies area again yourself. Don’t guess. The START, SFI BASICS and LAUNCHPAD are great learning materials. If you once again read through these areas, you can find some items which you can include in point form into your introductory emails.

These new and updated emails will be a mine of information both for yourself and for your team members. The work you will have to put in to gather the information for your welcome message is a great learning experience for all concerned.

The most important thing is that you should always rate your sponsor and you should always rate him/her fairly. How should you decide on what rating to give?

Firstly, you need to consider whether your sponsor has been in touch with you. If your sponsor has not been in touch at all, this has to be taken into consideration when choosing your sponsor rating. There are many reasons why your sponsor has not been in touch and perhaps he/she has a language problem. In this regard, I think it would be a good idea to contact your sponsor with a nicely written email/team mail and discuss what you are doing and how you plan to go about it.

In the email, ask for your sponsors assistance and enquire whether they are able to help you through this. No answer…then your sponsor should receive a low rating. You also have to consider whether your sponsor is actually receiving your emails. Perhaps you can try both team mail and email to see if you get a response. Obviously, if you sponsor is reluctant to answer your emails then this would attract a low rating.

If your sponsor is communicating with you, you then need to decide just how much help he/she is giving. Is the information fair, good, awesome? Just how much help do you get. Do you get the occasional incentive? Does your sponsor offer competitions to inspire? Then you should rate your sponsor highly.

Don’t forget that the ratings are fro 1 to 5 with 1 being the lowest rating and 5 being the highest rating. No communication – give them a 1. Fair – give them a 2 or 3. Lots of informative emails and advice to you of things you didn’t know and occasional prize incentives, then rate them a 4 or 5.

Rating your sponsor also earns VP for yourself. Just remember to be fair.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Marketing and advertising go hand in hand. Draft an email to your team members and ask them if they would like some help with marketing. Explain to them that marketing is a big part of SFI and TripleClicks and it is important in this aspect of growing your business. Offer to help with putting products in their new store and offer to draft them some text ads.

Make a list of all the places they can place both paid and free ads and supply this to your team. You can also draft out a fully detailed list of how you go about uploading products. Put it in point form so it is easy to understand. Explain to your team that you are there to help them at all times. Just remember to check your team mails and emails several times each day to see if any team members have requested your help.

It is always better to communicate with your team in their native language. I would first send an email to my team members asking them if they wish to communicate in English or their native language.

I would explain to them that there is a section of SFI where they can communicate in their native language and ask questions with a view to being a better business builder.

I would then provide a link to the correct section of the Forum where they can go and check it out. Offer any help you can and advise your team members that they can also use Google Translate to help converse. Provide the link to Google Translate in case they want to use it.

You can also point out that being a part of the Forum each day is a great learning experience and also helps with your Action VP count.

Most marketing tools are good tools. I would assume that this question is speaking of the marketing tools provided by SFI and I will reply in this regard. Firstly I will say that all of the marketing tools provided are good. You can choose to use one of them, several of them or all of them. If you are good at writing ads, then this should be the focus of your work.

With the tools provided by SFI, I like the idea of adding a signature to all my emails. Only use one signature and make it short and to the point. Don’t mention them in the body of your email, just add them at the foot. People are curious and you should get a few people following up on them. There are some samples in the marketing area of SFI if you are not sure what to write.

I also like advertising both TripleClicks and the JMT gateway. TripleClicks is the bones of this business and the more you sell, the more you earn. A good proportion of your advertising should be for items in the TripleClicks store. JMT will bring you in some PSAs.

Concentrate on these two areas and your business will soon be climbing up the ladder of success.

Just think about this – picture it. Clear out your garage and put in some tables and gather together all of your clutter. Include a few newer items and then arrange them decoratively around the tables. In amongst everything put little piles of your XCards, Gift Cards and Business Cards. Have some brochures available for the ECA program.

Now advertise your garage sale in the local paper. Make it an attractive ad. One advertisement, one small cost for the ad. Many people visiting your garage.

Pros:

1. You will make some money from the sale of your clutter which you can invest in your SFI business. Depending on how much you make, this should be sufficient to keep you at Team Leader level for quite a few months. It should also be enough to give you some advertising money and some left over for TCredits and PSA purchase.

2. You should have quite a large amount of people visiting your garage and perhaps you will get several PSAs sign up.

Cons:

Offer to help anyone who takes a leaflet or brochure. Tell them they can contact you any time for assistance. Provide your contact details on your business card so that it is easy for them to contact you.

Perhaps you could arrange a date for a get together in a week or so time for all who accepted some form of leaflet or brochure. You can have an afternoon tea and go into more detail. You can offer to provide ongoing help.

All this put together should be a really good boost to your business.
