Usually, one should not straight-away go forward and criticize anybody. Initially one has to provide advice or suggestion and wait for the person to enact or follow it. Then there should be a mild direction for the person's response and action. For both the above, some time has to be allocated and hence one has to wait for the person's reaction for some time. If still the concerned person is timid and inactive or improper in his response or if their is some lacuna in his response then only one has to adopt mild constructive criticism.
Most of the times, the people who are placed in top positions in hierarchy of any organisation would not like to receive suggestions, advice or even hints. The reason behind is personal ego which they derive from their organisational status, standing or position. For such people we have to be indirect and seek suggestion/advice from them. For Eg. Sir, Is it right to do such and such thing like this? When we deal with such people we have to think twice or thrice before we take the liberty to provide a constructive criticism.
In general, criticism of any kind would result in a positive or negative direction. Hence one has to guess, think from all the directions for the possible result then only one has to venture into criticizing another person. That mean, it entirely depends on the psychological make-up of the person who is receiving the constructive criticism.
Hence, there is an ancient saying: NEVER EXTEND ADVICE OR SUGGESTION WHEN IT IS NOT ASKED.
