First question, where do you call local? For me it is Malaysia. So my first step would be to look up number of affiliates in Malaysia. How big is the community?

Then I would tell the prospect "Look at this. This is the number of people looking for something to buy. These people prefers local product because there will be no shipping fees if you offer local pick up, or cheaper shipping fees if you use PosMalaysia (the local postal service). Don't worry about advertising because these people are the same people who would do the advertising for you"

So with customers lining up and advertising being taken care of, would anyone be turning that away?

If the prospective ECA does not have an internet presence than you should not have too much difficulty in convincing them that having an internet store opens them up to everybody in the area that has an internet connection and shops online.

Perhaps a few figures pointing out the advantages of a web presence will be enough to persuade them to give everyone in the area a chance to buy their goods.

This will be particularly pertinent if there shop is not in a particularly high traffic area.
