To get downline members to participate in your team contests I suggest 3 things.

1. Be consistent:

Communicate with them at regular intervals with reminders
Communicate with them using email, stream, and your leadership page
Communicate updates with them periodically

2. Make it so they can achieve with success:

Should be fun
Should help them learn something
Should not be too hard (but you don't want to have many tie for first place either)

3. Award prizes:

Award them on time
Award desirable prizes
Award prizes you can afford to give

The only thing I would add to this would be to set rules and post them with each communication you submit.

First and foremost, I would first appreciate each member in the team for their hard work and diligence during the past month and reward those affiliate that attained EA /Team Lead status either for the first time or second time in the previous month via the weekly team mails or through stream posts.
Communication is quite important; as one is able carry each affiliate in the team along without anyone being in the dark. Once they see some people being rewarded for their hard work, they would be motivated to work much harder each month due to the benefits they can get.

To get my affiliates to participate in the team contest, you can please follow these steps

1. Always have a budget and stick to it. That is determining the number of affiliates you want to win in a contest (could be 3winners per contest or more).
2. Appreciate each member of the team for their hard work.
3. Acknowledge the ACHEIVERS in the team and reward them with either assigning affiliates to them, T-credits or gift certificates.
4. Communicate with them regularly via team mails or via stream post to ensure them that you are willing to assist them in the best possible way.
5. Set a target for them that if they get to a certain level, you reward them with some t-credits or gift certificates. E.g, setting up a standing order monthly and you reward them with some t-credits or logging on daily and getting a minimum of 500 versa points to award them either t-credits or a gift certificate.
6. Check out our movers TAB daily and note the hardworking affiliates and motivate them by sending a gift certificate for them to increase their versa points.
7. Once we have been able to build their confidence, we can then inform them about the contest that one has in mind and direct them on how to enter the contest
With this in mind, its quite easier for them to participate as one has built their confidence and kept one’s promise my fulfilling what was promised.

Make sure that your team knows about the contest first and foremost. Post about it in your stream posts, and make sure to send out mailers to your downline so they know what offer is being placed before them. Also make sure that you advertise it on your Leadership page.

I would personally send out three or four solid messages explaining the contest rules and regulations, the time frame for the contest, when it will begin, when it will end, and what prizes are going to be offered, before you even start the contest. Then make sure to send a reminder the day before it is to begin, and one more first thing on the morning the contest is to start. After the contest starts, send out reminders and updates as to the standings.

To get your downline to participate in your contest.

1. Setup the contest, state clearly those who are qualified to participate or what to do to qualify them for the contest.

2. Paste the advert for contest into you blog page on SFI.

3. Creat an awareness with captivating heading of at least 2weeks before the contest finally begin. The reason been most affiliate dont read team mail except if they continually see almost same message over and over again.

4. Try to persuade them cos some may feel they are big enough to do without your contest.

5. Make the contest affiliate friendly, once in a while involve the Affiliate who are unable to qualify for EA2 or more, this will encourage them to want to go EA2 in the next month so as to participate in any of your contest.

There are some basic tenets when it comes to holding a contest.

1. Simple to understand
2. Make sure there is value proposition for the associates
3. Honest communication.
4. Give sufficient time for the contest
5. Help associates if they ares struggling, Financially or otherwise.

Needless to say the contest should have compelling proposition for the associate to respond. Additionally, after having held the first contest we can try to stratify our associate base into :

1. Associate who are active and interested.
2. Associates who are fairly active but no aggressive enough.
3. Associates who are not active.

Our contests can vary based on the stratification. The first category can be easily attracted. The second category can be attracted by crafting some smart contests which will make them to embrace and participate. It is the third category which is the toughest. Have some aggressive targeted communication and try to make them active.

Having talked about the strategies, it is important to make sure that the one' s which are performing should get the maximum benefit from the contest.

Encouraging downline members to participate in teams contests provides the motivation to produce some tangible results. Effective communications is the key to getting team members to participate in team contests.

Team contests can be announced at Leadership Page under blogs section or by sending team mails.

Contests can be organized at several fronts, for example the top three team members who recruits the most affiliates within a certain timeframe wins a cash prizes. Another example, the top three team members with highest VPs during a certain month wins cash prizes. Prizes could also awarded to team members who win PSAs and CSAs at auctions. There can also be a monthly referral contest and the top 5 winners get Co-op Positions. Monetary gift certificates is another reward incentive for contest participants.

You need to establish strong rapport between you and your 'Team' members to get them to participate or even respond to you on a regular basis.

One way of doing this that has worked well for me, is to establish lines of communication and build friendships outside the SFI platform as well. Connect up on Facebook, Linked-In, or similar social networks that they already use. Share emails, phone numbers etc if they are open to it.

This way you can keep in touch and maintain communication, even if they fail to check in at SFI daily. (Be careful not to continue to stay in touch with members who leave SFI - this is strictly prohibited)

You will find that your connection with team members take on a whole new dimension once your friendships extend even beyond SFI. Response and participation of team members becomes voluntary and enthusiastic.

First of all, you need to monitor your downlines closely, every day, and you will notice the moment when most of them get stuck and don't know what to do next. Now, that's the right time for setting up a competition!

If you are a beginner yourself, and not able to offer some spectacular prizes, you can offer 5 free TCredits to the first downline who confirms his/her EA status that month. I remember it when my Co-Sponsor sent me 5 free TCredits as a reward for my advance in the first two weeks, I was so thankful!

I also find it a very good idea to propose sharing the costs of S Builder co-op with a downline who recruits the most PSAs or advances to the next rank.

The timing for competition is of crucial importance. The goals you set for them shouldn't be to hard to attain, and the prizes should be such as you can afford.
