In order to get your downline members to participate in your team contests you need to make the contest attractive so that members will want to participate. Prizes should be attractive as well because everyone looks forward to winning something worthwhile from a contest.

You should also make your affiliates aware of the rules of the contest so that in the end no one will feel cheated because they were not aware of the rules.

You should also promote your contest by using all the various avenues provided. You can place it on you blog, use team mail, SFI Chat, email, CSA and PSA mailer Skype, facebook and any other available medium. In doing this none of your downline will be left out because if they do not see the contest promotion in one place they will see it in another.

To begin with, it is essential that you as soon as possible show your new affilates how to do the work right, to motivate them not to give up because they don't understand the way of SFI is functioning. Be there for them, communicate with them every day, help them to build there own buissnise becouse that is your job as their Team leader.

When it comes to your „old“ affilates, best way is to motivate them to participate in contest your offering. All your actions need to focus on how to best support your downline team members. When they have confidence in your motivations they are much more likely to get motivated. If you focus on helping your downline to build their business successfully then you will have a successful business and a successful contest. In oredr to that, you need to monitor your downlines closely, every day, and you will notice the moment when most of them get stuck and don't know what to do next. Now, that's the right time for setting up a competition! The timing for competition is of crucial importance. The goals you set for them shouldn't be to hard to achieve, and the prizes should be such as you can afford.

If you are a beginner yourself, and not able to offer some spectacular prizes, you can offer 5 free TC to the first downline who confirms his/her EA status that month. I remember it when my Sponsor sent me 5 free TCredits as a reward for my advance in the first two weeks, I was so thankful!

Encouraging downline members to participate in teams contests provides the motivation to produce some outstanding results. Effective communications is the key to getting team members to participate in team contests.

Getting downlines to participate in any activities in SFI is really a mighty challenge, especially in Team Contests.

A few months back I have started three team contests. The first one was to name our team with a nice $20 Gift Certificate prize for the winner who can come up with a cool name. I promoted it in my Leadership Page, mentioned it at every opportunity in my weekly group messages, but no one has responded. The only qualification for entering was that they should be PSAs and CSAs in my team, and with the $20 Gift Certificate it will surely give the winner a kickstart to her/his business. But, no one responded, I kept the prize, and wondered why no one has bothered, it was an easy contest.

Second time was for what I called "Match for March" Team Contest- I will match the number of Affiliates any of my team members can sponsor, plus 10 TCredits. I was aiming for duplication but it did not work. Still a flop! No amount of promoting helped.

Third time was for "First Sale" contest, open to all, as usual. Promoted and mentioned several times in weekly group mails.
To my surprise, one has really managed to make a sale - a 10 TCredit sale! Third time lucky! So I kissed $10 Gift Certificate goodbye and congratulated the winner.

Buoyed by my success, I am now running another TC Sales Contest.
As usual open to all PSAs and CSAs, from Affiliate to STL. The only other qualification is for Affiliates to have earned at least 600 VP and seriously building their SFI business. Unlimited winners too.

Winners who makes TC Sales, no matter how small, get $20 Gift Certificates.

I have 2 entries so far, which is very encouraging.

The best way to encourage members to participate is to communicate with all team members, first, and learn all their interests.

Also, a great way to learn is to pass around a survey to see what prizes the team members like, to see what motivates them members to become involved. If you make the prizes match the team's interests there will be a better chance of participation in the contest.

Also, you need to provide an easy to understand set of contest rules and inform participants about the amount of prizes offered, the odds of winning, the entry deadlines, and the time and date the contest is ended. The more information offered the better chances people will participate.

Make sure to inform who is eligable to enter and win.

Also, be sure to advertise this contest well so people will know about it, and advertise well in advance so many will have a chance to participate.

A great place to advertise is in your SFI Media Stream, on your leadership page, on Skype when communicating with team members, via Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace, and other social media websites, too. Be sure everyone sees it not just your team...the rules should explain who is able to enter so it does not matter who sees the contest and its rules. You may even have new team members that join SFI as a result of good advertising of your contest.

The most important thing is to have fun with your contest...and be consistant. If the contest does not work out the first time, do not be afraid to have more. Sometimes, people want to enter the contest but forget to enter, but if they get used to seeing your contests they may enter the next time you have one. It is also important to congratulate winners in public, and inform what they have won. People need to know who won so they will be sure to enter the next time...also, your winners usually tell others about the contest so that you will have more success the next time you hold a contest.

As a Team Leader, you should be consistently sending your affiliates messages at least once a week. You need to show them that you are there for them and that you are committed to their success. By establishing close relationship to your affiliates, they will become attentive to your messages.

Participation is an outcome of being driven or interested in something for not only self but also seeing how participating may benefit others too.

Before having your contest going "live" you may want to find out what are some interest points that your members have such as wanting to increase their affiliate numbers, sales numbers, or any other program that SFI has to offer which is of interest to team members. Once you know what topic is of interest to them, then this is what can be used towards creating your contest.

Contests are a great way to increase the level of activity among people but you also have to design the contest so that it appeals to many and not just the few.

The more you communicate and learn what is needed by your team members the easier it will be to design a contest to have them participate as it will appeal to their interest and not yours as the developer of the contest.

Not an easy thing to do, especially for someone who has just started in this business and/or only recent became a team leader. One way I think might work is to mention it in every correspondence to your down-line, including your weekly or bi-weekly newsletter. Try to get them excited about it by offering something that you know will help them succeed in their own business, eg. gift cards to tripleclick to encourage them to set up a standing order, s-builder units that will help them build their own team or even tcredits to get them involved in the auctions.
I would also try to give them the incentive to reach EA status by making it a condition of the contest. It will be up to them how they achieve EA status. Hopefully once they start seeing success, they will strive to further their business with SFI.

You want to motivate your downline with your contests
It is important the you keep your contests up to date and relevant to the activity in your downline.
I, for one, offer ongoing contests for Top 300, 1st time SO of 1500 VP, Refund of $2.00 Wave 3 sign up shipping charge,
to name a few.

In addition, I reward my PSA and CSA downline on a progress basis.
Achieving first time EA status
Maintaining EA2 status
Achieving BTL or higher
Establishing a running co-op with active team members

Rewards are in the form of TCredits, Gift Certificates or Re-assignments.

I attempt to make sure all of my active members are rewarded.
Posting of reward winners and contest reminders gives visibility to the not so active members
and encourages greater participation.

I guess your goal is to make affiliates more active, and team contests are a great way to do that. Just have in mind the following:

1. Let them know about the competition, than keep occasionally reminding them, through Stream posts or Team mails.

2. Give them a hint on how to accomplish the task you gave them. Maybe they need to sponsor most affiliates and they don't know how. Send them a useful tip, link, idea.

3. Finally, think carefully about the prize. T-time already gives 2 TCredits for doing basically nothing, so you need to make your prize better. Maybe you can ask your PSAs or CSAs what they would like to compete for. I am sure they would be modest, but still choose something that best suits their business plan here on SFI. Help them, and you will have active and motivated team. For example, my competition prize for the team member with the highest number of active PSAs was 5TCredits and an ECA registered on their link. Just an idea.

First of all, create a contest that is not too hard to accomplish. Setting it up is pretty simple,
just follow the instructions on your leadership page. Then send it out in your
weekly mailing to your downline, post it in your blog on your leadership page
and in all your mailings for the month.

Make a mention that the contest is still running
for the month and give updates as to how the contestants are doing.
