In my opinion, I think promoting both locally and internationally is good if you have the time. Why limit yourself when you can be more? The slogan "Let thy net always be cast" cannot be overemphasized!

Promoting locally and more personally is good because, you can then be able to connect with people more on a personal side. However, internet marketing is also good because you have a wider range of prospects that can become buyers and repeat business over time.

Simply put, there is no "better" method in marketing. It all depends on what you're trying to sell and how you're going about it at that time.

I am becoming a huge fan of promoting
locally.
Why?
I'm finding that the more familiar local and
regional people are about SFI, the more SFI surfing
we'll create. Moreover, by introducing shoppers and
business owners to TripleClicks, "local will take you
global". (Local businesses owners selling globally)
The increased exposure alone, word of mouth, and
global building will start the momentum of making TripleClicks
a household name.
This in turn will give credibility to our businesses, and
highlight the juxtaposition of the SFI/TripleClicks power and growth.
The result, success for the entire SFI consortium.
I personally like the ECA (E-Commerce Associates)program.
It would be outstanding to have a local presence of stores,
community members, and commerical sellers represented on
the Triple Clicks site. This alone would have these exact people
seeking us out for more information on how to participate.
Imagine seeing your competition or your neighbor on TripleClicks?
You would now want to be a part of "SFI" too wouldn't you?
And...the beauty of it all would be that YOU/ME/WE introduced these
businesses, customers, shoppers, friends & family, to the SFI phenomenon!
For me, I'm just a little biased..."I just received my ECA brochures
today and I'm so excited!" They're a beautiful tri-fold with a break down
of: 1. How it (ECA program) works 2. FAQ's 3. How ECA can increase sales
4. A space dedicated for you to place a label and /or stamp with your
I.D number & information.

This answer has been answered very clearly by SFI in its getting started messages As it asks you to contact family, friends and neighbors and either introduce them to the business model or to triple clicks as a starting point.
However this is not always possible if right away if you lack the confidence to approach these people with your limited knowledge of the business model or if you live in isolation. The internet would be the best starting point.
As all things in SFI it seem to give lots of option which work to a certain degree in isolation, however when you have a balanced approach and can do both you are set to make a steady and increasing income.
In that you are leveraging you actions, as on the internet you can do the action once and set it up to do the rest on auto pilot, 24hrs a day 365 days year, the prospect you get from this may be a bit hit and miss, but you will get lots of exposure an d lots of PSA’s to refine your skills as a team leader.
The personal approach will give more EA’s however id time consuming as each new prospect is brought in and developed personal with a great expenditure of time, but will most probably have a greater return in EA’s

I for one will not like to limit myself to any particular one because SFI business is globalized. It is widely known already so your work is just to create the awareness that SFI and TripleClicks are real and not scam and for people to know that it is real people that are in SFI and TripleClicks.

Wherever you find yourself spread the good news, talk about it, write about it, display the adverts, give out gift cards, T-shirts, Supplements, put your links on your receipts etc.

Announce it to the whole world. Don't wait for any particular opportunity. Use all the links and methods for your adverts and promotion if you are really serious with your SFI and TripleClicks business.

SFI is truly a global opportunity. However, I recommend that you promote SFI and TC locally first. After you gained more experience in sponsoring & leadership; a few active PSAs and PSM in your team to sustain your business, then go globally via the Internet.
Initially you can approach people well known to you and understand you like friends, relatives, etc. Because you feel more comfortable to approach, present and convince them. They also feel the same and they know that you are there to clear their doubts and if they face any difficulty, they know that you are there to help them. Moreover, you can work as a group and reach out to your friend’s friends and acquaintances easily. It’s easy to work with real people and get the results in real time.
You can sign up more people via Internet but it’s difficult to convince them to get motivated and work as a team. In short, the conversion rate is lower than the first method, i.e. warm marketing.
Comparing the two methods, the Internet promotion require more time and investment but the quality conversion rate is lower than the warm marketing method.

I don't think either is better. It is something that you will need to do eventually, whether you prefer local and personal or whether you prefer going global.

So my advice would be to start with what you are comfortable with. Like me, I am very shy to start a conversation from scratch. So I use the internet for my promotion. But I know that I will have to do it locally too.

So I take my time and try a few things first just to get comfortable. Like placing flyers around the neighborhood. Leaving X-cards. Etc.

I would like to graduate to presenting at an a2a meeting one day. But I think I shall push that activity maybe to next year when I am more comfortable.

The best way of promoting is the way that works for you. Which are you more comfortable with? Are you good at speaking to people about difficult subjects? SFI is simple but it can be a bit daunting for someone who knows nothing about internet marketing or ecommerce. Are you good at written communication? Can you express your thoughts clearly in an email?

Therefore I recommend that you know your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to promoting SFI. If you try to promote locally and more personally and you are not a people person then you will fail. Likewise, if you are unable to clearly communicate in writing you will fail if you try to market online. Which ever you are the best equipped for practice will make it better!

As SFI & TC business model is developed in such a way that, it can be promoted locally and globally.

Which is better and why depends on individuals reach and method of approach.

There is no guarantee that a neighbor will perform better than a foreigner, so promote on both platforms. It is just that some are good at one and some are at the other.

As sales:

Consider these two as 2 different categories (or markets). You can do business in either a
category or in both the categories.

Global sales are challenging for some affiliates, but they can do it locally and vice versa.

Everything depends on product, pricing & shipping, competition, target market etc.

Once the product is decided, find out how the product will favor in both the markets.

I think both are complementary.

When you promote SFI and TripleClicks locally, your targets are your family, your friends, your co-workers and people of the local community. The field is not very large, but your have great chances to make high quality sign ups. Then the communication with these affiliates is very easy because you share the same culture and thus you know how well make them understand what you mean.

However internet make you reach a larger public. You have the opportunity to spread the entire world with your ads. But there are a lot of difficulties: the language barrier, the culture barrier, the distance, etc. You spend a lot of time and energy to make very few sign ups.

Both have solid advantages and major inconvenients.
